Karl's POV
After a while, lynn spoke up, his words a mix of addressing me and perhaps talking to himself.
"I was born in a village, you know, one of those places where every step you take ends up in mud as soon as it starts raining." His voice maintained a calm tone, standing in stark contrast to the raucous ambiance of the bar, making it almost hard to catch his words.
"When I was really young, my mom was no longer around. People said she passed away, others said she couldn't handle my dad leaving. They never had an official marriage ceremony – just a few feasts and that was that. To this day, I don't know where my mom is, and I'm not even sure if she's alive. No one ever bothered to tell me her name."
