Chapter 23 - Zhong Rui: The Blood Lady's Revenge

While Feng Wei was absorbed in his training, back at the Three Paths Sect, Zhong Rui, Feng Wei's mother, meticulously planned a silent bloodbath, eliminating spies from the major sects.

Fourteen years ago, she had lost the will to live after her mother's death, unable to gather the strength to seek revenge against the formidable enemies responsible for her demise. However, fate had other plans for her.

In her darkest moments, a beautiful and cold beauty descended from the sky on a flying sword made of ice, and the temperature dropped as she approached. With hair as white as the moon and skin as pale as snow, she seemed to come from another continent. She discovered Zhong Rui and recognized his rare physique, making her a disciple. In this world, there were different types of Intent: Sword Intent for those who seek enlightenment in the way of the sword, Fist Intent for those who wield their hands as weapons, Spear Intent for those skilled in the art of the spear, and Killing Intent for those who chose the path of slaughter.

Mastering these Intentions allowed users to defeat opponents with higher cultivation levels or even paralyze weaker cultivators through the pressure of their Intentions.

However, there were special individuals who possessed a deep connection with multiple Intentions and were known as "Twin Intention Physiques." Zhong Rui was one of these rare individuals, as she had a profound affinity for both Sword Intent and Kill Intent. It was this unique characteristic that granted her the ability to exact revenge with precision and skill some years later.

Zhong Rui's unique abilities made her a terrifying figure across the continent, even the Empress, who held power above the major sects, respected her. Zhong Rui became known as "The Blood Lady." Her name struck fear into the major sects as she became a legendary figure, leaving a trail of destruction and vengeance wherever she went.

On that fateful day when she bathed the continent in blood, her once white garments turned red with the blood of her enemies. This marked her transformation into one of the most feared and respected cultivators of all time. Her name echoed through the realms, evoking both fear and admiration, and her relentless pursuit of revenge became a story to scare misbehaving children.

However, despite her fame and power, Zhong Rui still carried a deep emotional burden.

The vengeance she sought for so many years brought justice to her mother, but it also left a scar on her heart. The gaze of her son Feng Wei, resembling one of the culprits of her mother's death, was a painful reminder of a dark past she preferred to forget.

As she meticulously planned her attack, Huang Ying, her shadow, was an exceptionally talented cultivator who cultivated only Kill Intent and possessed a unique skill for concealing her presence. She was loyal to Zhong Rui and had an unwavering devotion to their objectives. More than master and disciple, they seemed like partners, forming an unstoppable team, complementing each other perfectly.

The next day, Zhong Rui and Huang Ying eliminated the spies from the major sects with deadly precision, leaving no trace of their presence. Their attacks were swift and silent, rendering all enemies defenseless.

The air was heavy with the smell of blood, but the two beauties remained undisturbed.

Zhong Rui's sword glimmered with the blood of her enemies, which she wiped away with a smooth and precise cut. "Was that the last of them?" she asked, her voice calm but carrying unquestionable authority.

Huang Ying nodded. "Yes, all the spies from the major sects have been eliminated. They won't be a threat anymore."

"Good," Zhong Rui replied with a hint of satisfaction.

Huang Ying nodded, swallowing hard before continuing. "About the young master, he hasn't arrived at the City of Crimson Chaos yet. We tried to track him, but he's exceptional at hiding his traces. Based on his speed, he should arrive in about a month and a half..."

But before Huang Ying could finish her report on Feng Wei's whereabouts, Zhong Rui released a chilling aura of killing intent and shouted, "Shadow Warriors!"

Suddenly, seven alluring figures emerged from the shadows, their faces covered by veils. Each was exquisitely beautiful, appearing to be between twenty-seven and twenty-nine years old. They were a highly skilled group of assassins dedicated to Zhong Rui's cause.

"Wait for him in the City of Crimson Chaos until he arrives," Zhong Rui ordered, her killing intent still palpable. "If anything happens to him, you know what will happen, don't you?"

The Shadow Warriors nodded in unison, acknowledging the seriousness of their task. They were devoted to their leader and understood the consequences of failure.

Zhong Rui then retrieved a small symbol from her storage ring, a miniature representation of a certain mirror. After a moment's thought, she inscribed a protective array on the symbol and handed it to the eldest-looking warrior. "Give this to him when you see him," she said.

The oldest-looking warrior, who seemed to be the group's leader, accepted the symbol with a solemn expression. "Understood," she replied, her voice firm.

Zhong Rui nodded in approval. "Good." But recalling Feng Wei's arrogance and challenge in their last interactions, she bit her lower lip through the veil, unaware of how cute she looked, and instructed the seven Shadow Warriors, "If he refuses to accept... tell him there's a protective array and that with it, he can act as arrogantly as he wants in the city."
