"Get ready kid, now that you have had time to rest this next day is all going into training. First I am going to teach you how to use that spear and then you will hit the books until you decide what kind of skill you want." Aleandra instructed.
They both went down to the training area where all the workers looked at them with disdain because they knew that more work was coming. First was teaching how to slash properly with the spear, which with his small body was a bit difficult but possible. 100 repetitions was too many so Aleandra decided it was time for blocking, mainly because she wanted to beat someone up, unfortunately that someone was a child.
Next up was reading. There were many sections and most were based elementally but after hearing of the types that humans had so far been able to access, he decided on more research. The main types that Wagner considered were spirit/combination, body enhancement, necromancy, and divination. The two he ended up choosing were Divination as a primary and Body Enhancement as a secondary.
Divination allows for the user to see the instant future, which is incredibly helpful in battle but can be tough if the skill isn't fully developed. The development of divination allows for multiple different options including more time, wider vision, mana vision, and spell prediction. An increase in time is an increase to how much further in the future is being viewed by the user, and wider vision allows the user to see further to the right and the left but not directly behind what would usually be visible to prevent some sneak/surprise attacks. Mana is not typically visible with divination, which gives purpose to the mana vision which allows the user to see the input, output and collection of mana. Lastly is spell prediction which is a further advancement of mana vision that gives one the ability to determine the output and affinity of an upcoming spell.
Body Enhancement was Wagner's other choice, which when grown allows one to build up specific resistances to magic. The advancements of this spell are all elementally specified. For example Wagner can build up a water magic resistance and then a poison resistance. While the water resistance would remove a portion of water magic damage and a smaller portion of the damage done by spells that are sub-affinity spells of water, a specific poison resistance will maintain the larger portion of resistance.
Wagner wanted to be as untouchable as he could. He chose these so that he could dodge anything and if he couldn't dodge it, he could take it head on. Now it was time to tell his Master that he was ready.
"Master, I have decided on the spells I want to learn. Divination, and Body Enhancement." Wagner said excited about how close he was to being worth admittance into the most prestigious of schools.
"Those aren't exactly strange but they aren't preferred either. Divination I can understand but if you have that, then what's the point of body enhancement. Why not go for spirit combination Silvana or Necromancy like me." Aleandra said, tilting her head in confusion of the boys decision to solve the same problem in two ways at the same time.
"I want to be untouchable." Wagner proudly stated.
"Nice try. Your secondary is going to be Necromancy, your third can be body enhancement if you want to send a couple circles over to poison resistance then I will understand." Aleandra said while slapping Wagner on the head.
Necromancy is the collection of physical or mental ability of those that have been killed. A user is able to pull physical enhancements from those that are dead both short-term and long-term. While the ability may sound amazing the amount of strength accessible is very minute unless the skill is advanced. However the build up of long-term necromancy allows for very large build up especially for a general like Aleandra who spends vast amounts of time on the battlefield where the dead are plentiful.
"Master, I refuse to kill someone else!" Wagner nervously but firmly stated almost feeling like he was putting his head up for the chopping block by disobeying his teacher.
"Don't worry, although the amount gained is slightly smaller for some, animals work too. " Aleandra starting to become quite proud of the kid and his unwillingness to kill.
"Fine, I guess, it will serve a similar purpose." Wagner said thinking about collecting resistance from the elemental beasts.
"Not exactly since you will be boosting your speed. I already prepared the scrolls for you to implant the necromancy ability. I will have to go into my collection for the divination one." Aleandra said cursing internally that he picked the most expensive one that she would have to buy at top dollar.
A COUPLE HOURS LATER:
"Kid, get over here and get ready to learn your first skill. The power is always subjective to the user but typically the divination allows for about a quarter of a second of vision into the future." Aleandra said while wondering if his difference in technique will change the outcome.
"How do I learn the skill?"
"Seriously? You don't even know about scrolls, talk about country bumpkin. You hold the scrolls in your hand meditate and put your mana into it. It will seal onto your first circle." Aleandra instructed.
Wagner then sat down with the scroll and followed instructions. Slowly focusing on the scroll controlling his mana and sending it outwards. As he continued to do this for about 10 minutes, nothing continued to happen. So, at the risk of being beaten up next practice time, Wagner decided to burn the scroll. Or rather to make a circle out of the scroll, twisting it up and making each end touch and then imagining the same thing he had imagined over and over. Lighting something on fire in the form of a circle. The scroll suddenly burst into flames and Wagner could feel the scroll imprinting onto first circle. The fire had been stained another color, and purple flames now covered Wagner until he could slowly reduce them.
"What the HELL did you do with that scroll?! Don't you know that was expensive?!" Aleandra yelled, preparing to have Wagner carry out more 'blocking' practice.
"But teacher, I can tell that the scroll was sealed around my first circle. I swear!" Wagner yelled out in a panic. Hoping to avoid catching a beating.
"Prove it!" Aleandra shouted as she rushed forward pulling out her weapon of choice: gauntlets. She charged at Wagner not going anywhere near full force but certainly coming close to full speed.
Wagner, knowing a beating was coming, focused as much as possible suddenly seeing two of his teacher. Suddenly ran away to the opposite side of where the first punch came from and dodged it. This action gave quite a shock to Aleandra who hadn't thrown a punch yet.
"Well kid it looks like you really did seal your first circle with that scroll. Hurry up and show us your first circle." Aleandra demanded.
"Alright Alright, here it is." Wagner said, knowing that his attitude might catch him that beating he just narrowly avoided. Wagner then showed his circle of mana which looked exactly as it had before aside from the now purple color.
"I guess because your mana circle creation technique is different, then your skill creation techniques have to be different too." Aleandra stated, trying to understand what the difference is.
