Chapter 47 - Triolles

-3rd Person-

Ray quickly arrived at the area, glancing around to see where Crystal was with fleeting worry unnoticeable deep within his eyes. He had been worried for what she could've done in the time he had let her run free – without supervision, too. It was a concerning matter considering her impulsive tendencies which still didn't make much sense to Ray himself.

A sigh of relief – probably – escaped his jaw at the sight of Crystal sitting on a green log, swinging her legs and whistling a tune he hadn't recognised. He'd spared a glance to Sayna before looking away; she wasn't relevant, not at this moment no. Vincent, predictably, was sitting by Crystal's side and staring at the petal lightly held in her grasp. It was a tinted red which blended into a soft pink. The whole petal was a fierce contrast to the deep blue of most other things, since unsurprisingly the whole planet consisted of cooler colours. The black haired boy, Ray, almost stopped to wonder where the petal had come from but ultimately shook his head and stepped toward them.

A man with black hair, including white streaks which made it difficult to tell the true hair colour, and eyes with so many colours it could be considered a rainbow looked at you. His head tilted to an abnormal degree and his voice became more unrecognisable as time went on.

His clothes were the kind a clown would wear, bright and all over the place as his gaze probed you. It darted all over as it searched for your intentions.

He asked you a question, so why don't you answer it?

The monster – Overseer – turned back to Ray, following the latter as he steadily walked towards Crystal.

"Where'd ya get that petal from?" Ray asked nonchalantly, sitting beside Vincent as he gestured toward it. Crystal looked up, holding it in her palm as she stretched it out to Ray. He lightly held it, rubbing it with his fingers before setting it back down in her palm in silence.

"Just appeared in my pocket at some point." She replied, soon just letting it float to the ground in disinterest – probably since she'd been staring at it for the past few minutes. "So, when're we gonna fight?" She jumped off the pastel green log, brushing her thighs softly and then stretching. Vincent followed shortly after and Sayna had also followed – thought she was leaning on a tree rather than sitting down. Both Lilith and Devron had been standing, so they just quietened in their whispers to each other.

Silently, Ray walked to follow the prints on the ground – he was no scout, but they were so firmly embedded onto the ground that it was hard to miss. The group followed after in their own small duos, Sayna, however, had been left to follow alone. Although Ray was similar he considered himself to have also had a duo, especially so since The Overseer had been beside him.

"A reply would've been nice..." Mumbled Crystal offhandedly, her fingers now fiddling with the ends of her uniform, as she followed Ray. No one paid any mind to her remarks, but Vincent did give her a half-encouraging-half-mocking pat on the shoulder which she'd chosen to ignore.

Everything was drowned into a – half comforting – silence, with only footsteps heard frequently. But eventually a distant sound was heard; it was something similar to a clicking yet with also an undertone of a growl beneath it. It sounded like two, but it was clear there was only one. They all stopped, silently bringing out their weapons and looking to Ray for instructions.

He simply stood still, closing his eyes to listen to the clicking-growling noise as he tiptoed toward the source. He soon stopped and gestured for the others to follow him before dashing forward, jumping into the air and using a spell on the crocodile like creature in front of him.

[Weaken: Defence]

[Shards: Mana]

Glass like shards appeared in the air, aimed at the crocodile. There weren't many, as Ray had then ran back and looked to the others to allow them to use their magic and fight.

Crystal had worn some gauntlets and hit the head of the triolle, though the shell of the monster was hard and thick, so it didn't do much except for draw its attention. She'd seemed to accept this role of a tank quickly and seemed to be ready to take more weak hits at the triolle if it helped.

Vincent had taken up the role of making sure people didn't get seriously hurt, namely, Crystal. He had tentacle-like claws deflecting most hits of the triolle or parrying its blows.

Sayna had pulled a sword from its sheathe and began to strike it precisely in an attempt to find a weak point in the shell, somewhere she would be able to kill it in one swift blow.

Lilith had stood beside Ray, understanding that she didn't stand to gain anything from this, nor was she able to help in any notable way.

Devron was stationed in front of Lilith, sending stray spells to strengthen others or hit the triolle unexpectedly. It wasn't his time to shine at this moment, in his opinion.

"I'm bored." Lilith spoke, whining slightly as she'd slouched where she stood.

"You're always bored, anything new this time?" Ray shot back, offering an insincere smile toward the succubus as he ignored her pointed glare directed at him. They could faintly hear the battle in the distance but chose to pay it no mind, the group was quite strong anyways, and they had multiple failsafes in the case that the current group fails. Example? Hestia.

Ray looked at what was happening but didn't register it, his eyes would brush over everything and it would all be ignored. The boy didn't have any interest in it, especially since the opponent was quite weak – and the fact that there wasn't any real danger considering everything.

It was so boring he felt the need to do something life-threatening and stupid just to make him feel content with the boringness of safety and security. But even that was temporary.

He shook his head, pulling himself from the sea of thoughts to finally think about their actions in battle. He noticed the favouritism of Crystal and Vincent toward eachother; this would make them good in pairs in the case the group ever need to split up. He noticed how no one really cared for Sayna, except out of moral obligation and how Devron didn't seem to really care about the battle. It made sense considering how Devron was generally a pacifist, but then became more confusing the more Ray tried to think about it.

Devron was both a pacifist and someone who liked violence, in a way. Taking into consideration how Ray made him with emotions in mind, and most of those were negative. Devron also seemed ready to kill if needed. But then came into play the general personality, he loved butterflies and all things prey (or peaceful). He based most of his character off logistics and happiness, along with pacifism and caring 'ness'. Ray wondered if it was an effect of his surroundings on Earth or something else he didn't know about.
