Chapter 38 - Extra Chapter: BeatyRuby24

Before Spectre became Kylo Stromcrest....

Pov BeatyRuby24 (Adelina):

*KRAAAAAAAK!

That sound you heard, yes, that is the sound of evolution.

The sound of a 119th level mage ascending, breaking the chains that vilely kept him from moving forward in the amazing and fantastic world of magic.

"I've finally made it!", I exclaimed jubilantly as I watched the game interface, alerting me to my great success.

[Congratulations on successfully rising to mage level 120! ].

[A unique milestone in history! You are the first player to reach mage level 120! ]

[You will get a fruit of infinite mercy (Mythical) and your feat will be remembered at the Laferia monument!]

"HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA", I kept laughing, I finally made it, with many sacrifices of course.

(I am poor...)

"But I made it."

"Hehe," I couldn't help but make a stupid face while looking at my status window.

(Now, I'll finally be the most powerful mage in the game!)

My great ambition will finally come true, months of intense farming, meaningless auctions, abusive deals, all just for this day.

*Rubbing

*Rubbing

I rubbed my eyes in confusion when I saw the first place, but the result didn't change.

 -2: BeatyRuby24 / Mage Level: 119 → 120 / Magic Arena Victories (PVP): 7000 ]

(Impossible, Impossible, Impossible!)

I denied reality, it was impossible for her to be at the top of the rankings.

(Yesterday she only had 7500 wins, it's impossible for her to win 400 duels in a single day!)

In Aerial Chronicles, there is no such thing as power level or anything like that, so if you want to be the best, you must be the best at strategies, gadgets, spells, etc.

It all adds up and that is evaluated in the game's Arenas, with the magic arena being the most relevant for mages.

The magic arena is the place where mages face each other in duels to show who are the most powerful and win rewards for it.

It is a place exclusively for wizards, so it is impossible for anyone to help them....

(Unless...)

A small possibility occurred to me.

In version 5.0 M, they added a new feature where you can equip your pets (NPCs) with traits and have them help you in combat.

(Technically, they are allowed, since they work similar to summoning...)

But the reason no one uses them is that they are extremely expensive.

For an NPC to be functional, you need pretty much the same resources that a player needs to be someone decent in this game.

Race, classes, items to improve stats, weapons, armor, and most importantly: traits.

(I understand that once you equip them on an NPC, you can't unequip them...).

Why would anyone spend their resources on an NPC when they could use them to get stronger?

(How? HOW DO YOU HAVE ONE THAT POWERFUL?!!!)

When you reach a certain amount of victories, you only face renowned mages, I'm talking about top 100 and up, so it's impossible for it to be a normal NPC.

"Haaa," I sighed.

[ xXItz to Mad WarlockXx, he invites you to his group. Do you wish to accept? ]

(I guess I'll get a little distracted).

[Accept].

The moment I accepted, a teleportation portal appeared, where I could also appreciate where it was going.

A mountainous place with a very peculiar atmosphere and....

*Truuuun!

Thunder?

(Eria... huh)

I entered the portal and numerous lights assaulted my eyes.

--

-DreamDragon mountain range.

(This place...)

It is one of the most dangerous in the game, in fact, unless you are high level, coming here is suicide.

Why? Dragons, half-dragons, overloaded dungeons, high level mini-bosses and most importantly:

The home of the most hated player in the game.

Spectre.

A psychopath who does whatever he pleases abusing the rules of the game, a high-level tryhard, a scum, etc.

(Why am I here?)

I wondered, but more importantly, a group of robed people approached me with smiles.

They were my wizard friends and people from the Star Mage guild.

"Congratulations, Beaty, on being the first level 120 mage," my good friend Mad Warlock expressed with joy.

She was wearing a red robe with greenish places and a big warlock hat.

"Thanks, and don't worry, I'll pay you back later," I said a bit apologetically, as I had borrowed money from him for my promotion.

(And now I have a lot of debts...I'm going to get depressed).

"Don't worry, don't worry, that's what friends are for, right?", he denied with a nonchalant face saying he didn't care.

"By the way, how do you know?", I asked curiously.

(I haven't told anyone... yet).

"Silly, haven't you seen the global chat?" he rolled her eyes and explained.

Turns out my promotion was broadcast on the global chat, and that's why they found out. Also, the reason we're here is to celebrate, apparently.

"Oh, that."

(I completely forgot about that).

Immediately, I went to check the global chat and saw it.

[A unique milestone in history! BeatyRuby24 is the first player to reach level 120 mage! ]

Followed by some opinions.

-Noblekarito: "Fuck, some sicko made it to level 120, and I'm still killing cows at level 30."

-KniferSoul: "How strong should a level 120 mage be?".

-Gandalfini: "@KniferSoul, She can probably blow up an entire city."

(Huh?)

I also saw a rather interesting post going a bit above.

-zzxSeer of the Lost Agesxzz: @PrincessGlaciara721, you fucking bitch, you sold your body to Spectre to get that NPC, didn't you?

It was top 3, complaining about PrincessGlaciara721, who is suspected of having ties to Spectre.

- PrincessGlaciara721: @zzzxSeer of the Lost Agesxzz, did it burn you that much? Loser.

(Not entirely unreasonable)

Considering the only crazy person in this game willing to invest in NPCs is that guy.

"Hey, why don't you show us the spell you unlocked?", next to me still, Mad Warlock. asked.

(Right, there was that...).

I closed the global chat window and looked at the level 120 spell I unlocked.

[Spell Name: Super Explosive Blast!!!(New!).

Required Level: 120

Description: This spell is the most powerful spell in the explosive magic domain. By uttering the magic words and channeling for a time, the mage generates a glowing sphere the size of a building. This sphere glows with immense energy and then erupts in a massive explosion, destroying everything in its radius of action.

The radius depends on the player's total mana and the spell's potency on the player's intelligence (statistics).

*Note: The explosion is so colossal that it completely depletes the mage's mana, leaving him without energy to cast more spells after using it. ]

"Sounds loud," I said and immediately explained the effects to Mad Warlock.

"Great!" he said enthusiastically and after a while pointed behind me and said with a sinister smile, "Why don't you try it over there?"

I turned my body to see what place he was referring to and I saw it.

A castle stood atop a mountain, surrounded by stormy clouds and lightning.

I knew that place, in fact, all the veteran Aerial Chronicles players knew it.

The castle of eternal night, the place where the Spectre player usually dwells.
