"I didn't believe it at first, but they actually created another world, I can't wait to explore, do you need something from the merchant store?" Alisha asked.
"I just wanted to check it out" Lewis answered.
"Then let's go in," Alisha said as she walked inside.
'What is wrong with me, I can't even look at her face, she's just a girl, I haven't talked to a girl my age in years, wait is she even my age' Lewis mumbled to himself as he walked in.
The merchant store was filled with things that Lewis had no idea what they were and some equipment that he knew, few NPCs were in the store looking around and a short bearded man stood behind the counter.
"I forgot to ask, what class did you choose?" Alisha asked him.
"Dark Mage, what about you?"
"Archer" she replied.
"Do you know how to bring up the system screen?" Alisha asked.
"I also don't know how, I should have asked the goddess," Lewis said.
"The goddess!! what goddess?" Alisha asked.
"The goddess that was in charge of the character creation, she called herself the goddess of rebirth," Lewis said.
"What are you talking about?" Alisha asked.
"How did you create your character?" Lewis asked.
"I appeared in a shiny room and the system screen appeared in front of me and I selected my name, class and I was transported here"
"What name did you select?" Lewis asked.
"My in-game name, war goddess"
'Wait she was allowed to choose her name but I had no choice, then am I the only one the goddess appeared to, is that why she was acting strange, and wait I haven't even checked the book she gave me' Lewis mumbled inwardly.
"What name did you choose?" Alisha asked.
"Lewis Quinn"
"Why didn't you choose your in-game name, I'm sure this game would be the highest-rated game in the world, and there are going to be top players, choosing your real name is surprising"
"What can I help you with," the merchant asked and both of them turned around, the shop was empty except for the two of them and the merchant.
"Do you happen to have spell books?" Lewis asked.
"No though they are spell books in the library, wait...are you adventurers sent from the city?" the merchant asked.
"No, but we are adventurers, is something wrong?" Alisha asked.
"Wolves have been disturbing the village, they usually don't come close to the village but recently they have been five attacks, the village head sent a request to the city but no response, can you help us?" the merchant asked.
Alisha looked at Lewis and he immediately looked away.
"We can help," Alisha said.
"Then I'll take you there immediately," the merchant said.
"Before that, we'll need equipment, I'm an archer but I kinda used up all my arrows when coming here, I'm sure there's somewhere in this village where you can get a bow and an arrow right?" Alisha asked.
"Sure, just wait in front of my shop," the merchant said as they all walked out.
"You are really good at this, but didn't the game give you a bow?" Lewis asked.
"But it's the lowest level and lowest tier, they might have something better, you are a mage right, were you given something"
"I don't have any spell yet but I haven't checked my inventory, oh I was given..." Lewis stopped as he remembered the goddess told him not to talk about the necromancy book.
"You were given something?"
"No, I'm sure my inventory would be empty, mages don't use weapons"
"Maybe we can stop by the library before leaving, oh the merchant is back," Alisha said.
The merchant came with a bow and a quiver filled with arrows, but this time he came with another younger man.
"I heard you are going to exterminate the wolves for us?" the man asked.
"Yes, for a reward that is"
"Of course, you are going to risk your life so you ought to get something in return, what about 10 gold coins," the man asked.
"10 gold coins, okay, we are doing you guys a favor so no problem," Alisha said.
"Okay then, I'll lead you there, the wolves inhabit a cave some meters away from the village"
"I nearly forgot, I got you a spell book from the library, I don't know if it'll be useful cause it's a basic spell," the merchant said as he handed the spell book to Lewis.
[Fireball - Ordinary - level 1]
[Do you want to learn Fireball]
[Yes] [NO]
The message popped up in front of Lewis, and he quickly selected [Yes]
[You have successfully learned Fireball]
Lewis smiled and handed the book back to the merchant, the next moment something invaded his memories, and the knowledge of how to cast the fireball spell was poured inside.
"Are you done with the book?" the merchant asked.
"Yes, thanks," Lewis said as he held his head.
"Then I'll lead the way," the man said and both of them followed him.
Within a minute they were already in the forest, from the man's action they could tell he was afraid as he was looking back and forth.
"Just point to where the wolf cave is and head back to the village if you are afraid" Alisha spoke.
"It's over there" the man pointed forward and immediately turned around and ran back to the village.
"You saw the way he was afraid right, the wolves must be much in number or high leveled, either way, it's really bad for us" Lewis spoke as they came to a stop.
"This is the starting village, I'm sure they are low-level wolves but they might be numerous, what spell did you learn back there?" she asked.
"Fireball, though it's low leveled," Lewis said.
"Can you cast it?"
"Yeah sure, but I doubt it'll have an effect on a pack of wolves, but their claws would have an effect on us"
"Then should we head back and tell them we exterminated the wolves?" Alisha asked.
"Why should we do that, we should fight and if the battle is harder than we anticipated then we can run"
