Chapter 2 - Prologue

Standing in a field of lavenders, feeling the warm soft wind caress my skin as I gaze up to the blue sky watching the clouds pass-by.

Sighing as I closed my eyes. Children's laughter faintly echoing from the walls of the lower village a few miles away from where I stand. The common folk sing with a joyous tune.

"Stop this... Please." I whispered which caused everything to become very still and quiet. I open my eyes to see a butterfly remaining frozen a few inches away from a flower. Gazing at it sadly as it was obvious this was someone's doing.

Feeling a presence behind me; one that felt warm and welcoming yet one you can not trust completely. Like a lifelong friend you could entrust your life to but also the same person you would not trust not to let your guard down around them.

"Please stop... I know this isn't real. " I repeated in a sad tone.

"I cannot comprehend how you saw through it." He said with a tone that was laced with curiosity. "Nor do I understand why you would not want this."

"I can hear it... I can feel it... That's why." The moment I said that, loud and violent voices were heard. Voices that screamed for justice and those that were calling someone a murderer.

I felt a heavy feeling on my wrists, looking down I saw my satin dress was turned into a tunic of dirty white with blood stains. My porcelain apricot skin was decorated with blooming flowers of purple and green. Scars and scratches run up on my arms either that of a tender pink or raw red with blood oozing out a bit from the lacerations. Chains made of steel had replaced my golden bracelets that once adorned my wrists. My feet felt scared and cracked with dryness, it felt sore and tender as though I had walked for miles with no shoes.

"I thank you for this but I'd rather see what's happening than be blindfolded with a reality that was weaved with lies." I can see the blue sky slowly cracking, like a mirror that's slowly about to be shattered to pieces. "You mean good, but I hate liars the most."

"Even if it was a lie meant to protect a delicate snowflake like you?"

"I am not delicate. I am not a snowflake. I don't need protection." A cold tone filled with rage, I may seem ungrateful to this entity but I could care less. They never cared for us humans, so why bother now.

"As you wish." With that the field of lavenders shattered and was replaced by a field of pitchforks and torches. Faces of people filled with rage and hatred in their eyes. The sky filled with dark grey clouds and a harsh cold wind hit me as I was dragged to the platform towards the Guillotine.

"OFF WITH HER HEAD!"

"MURDERER!"

"TRAITOR!"

"KILL HER"

I couldn't even avoid a rock that was thrown at me by some of them from the crowd. I didn't flinch when it hit my head nor when I felt the warm liquid trickle down my forehead.

Smiling sadly to myself as they announced who I was and what I did.

Did I really deserve this?
