Chapter 7 - [Royalty Arc 06] Trifles & Trips

Lance shed tears: [I know, it will be too late when he thinks that the De Vere family doesn't want to treason. Let the De Vere family be more alert beforehand, and it will be easier to persuade them to do things in the future.]

007 looked confused: [Wait, host, do you really want to do something bad? In fact, all you need to do is kiss King Alexander's feet and make him abandon dealing with the De Vere family!]

Lance: [I can't trust your method. ^_^]

Liamsworth was frightened by his words. He looked around hurriedly and found that all the servants and maids had been sent away. Then he breathed a sigh of relief and scolded, "How can you speak so recklessly about the king!"

Lance wiped away his tears with a handkerchief: "How could I have hated him? I love him wholeheartedly and am willing to give everything for him. It doesn't matter if he doesn't like me. How could he think so of our family!"

This is what the real Lancelot wants to say. Although he is willful for his love, he has never thought of destroying his family for love. He cherishes his loving parents and doting brother.

The handkerchief was torn out of shape by the tightly clenched hands. The circles under Lance's eyes were red, and his bloodshot eyes were filled with pain. He looked extremely distressed.

Liamsworth was shocked by his appearance and quickly took his hand: "Lancelot, what's going on?" He was just scolding him, it shouldn't have affected him like this.

Lancelot just shook his head: "Please... tell Father and Mother to be more cautious. I'm afraid the king doesn't like me anymore."

Liamsworth was secretly frightened, and his palms became cold as he held Lancelot's hand.

He said slowly, "I understand. You should take good care of yourself in the palace and don't contradict the king."

As Liamsworth spoke, his eyes became red: "Don't do anything unnecessary."

Lance wiped the corners of his eyes with the torn and crumpled handkerchief, returning to his usual composure: "I know, don't worry, brother, I will take care of myself."

Liamsworth sighed, "It is not appropriate for me to stay in the palace for such long time."

Lancelot nodded in agreement and escorted Liamsworth out of the palace.

Alferdo came in and saw that his eye circles were all red, feeling distressed.

What Lance had just said to Liamsworth had indeed been speculations against King Alexander, but it was unbelievable that the a Duke's family could be condemned and exterminated just because of a Consort's words and some fake evidence.

But Lance knew very little; most of what he knew was told to him by Lancelot's memories, and he didn't dare to make any rash decisions.

Lance closed his slighty swollen eyes, and 007 said in his ear: [Host, please be careful and don't be influenced by the original owner's emotions.]

The display of intense hatred just now seemed very authentic, which raised concerns.

Lancelot hummed, his face showing no expression: "I just played an act, otherwise, I wouldn't have been so convincing. I had to appear overly aggressive to make Liamsworth take my words seriously."

He wasn't very skilled at acting; people who cry usually pinch themselves. If you looked at Lance's thighs now, his legs were bruised and battered.

007 replied: [The memories of the original owner could potentially trigger emotional empathy in the host, affecting strategies and tasks. Try not to dwell too much on the original owner's memories.]

Lance smiled: "Most of the host's you've taken in turned crazy?"

007 was silent for a moment and then replied: [We evaluate the host's mental capabilities before selecting them. So no, it is a rare case.]

Lance was curious about what this organization behind 007 could ultimately gain from these different worlds.

But for now, those were questions beyond his reach. What he needed most urgently was to complete the tasks and strategies at hand so that he could have a chance to uncover the organization behind 007.

He didn't know how Liamsworth discussed matters with the rest of the De Vere family after his return.

The next day, King Alexander had summoned Duke Arthur into his palace.

Lance was now curious about the fact that King Alexander had summoned Duke Arthur to the palace.

He only thought about it for a few seconds before instructing Alferdo to prepare a bowl of trifles that King Alexander loved, and then took the vasket to meet King Alexader at the King's castle.

There was no other way. As a consort, if you wanted to meet King Alexader this was the only way.

The King's castle was neither near nor far from Lance's castme. As Lance made his way there, he happened to see King Arthur, who had just walked out of the castle.

Lancelot immediately moved sideways, and as they crossed paths, he almost collided with King Arthur.

King Arthur was slightly startled, not expecting to encounter a consort here. Lance was also surprised, as if he didn't anticipate encountering anyone in this corridor, and he almost dropped his trifles cake basket.

In an instant, Duke Arthur reached out and offered a hand to help, steadying Lance before a single piece of the cake was dropped.

It was a reflexive action, swift and efficient. His thoughts lagged behind his actions, and he didn't overanalyze the situation. After assisting Lance, he realized that the person he had just helped was a consort, a member of the King's harem.

His expression remained composed, but his eyes betrayed a flicker of curiosity as they settled on Lance.

Lance, seemingly oblivious to the assistance he had received, remained focused on the basket cradled in his hands. Relief washed over him when he confirmed that the trifles remained intact.

He raised his head to acknowledge Duke Arthur with a polite nod. "Thank you, Duke Arthur," he said, refraining from mentioning the extent of the duke's gallant assistance.

Duke Arthur returned the nod with a slight inclination of his head, intending to continue on his way.

Lance, holding the basket with one hand wore a pleasant smile as he inquired, "Was the banquet to your liking?"

Duke Arthur paused for a moment, recalling that First Consort Jace had indeed mentioned that Consort Lancelot had prepared the royal banquet that day.
