"Hey buddy, are you also here shopping with your girlfriend?" The young man was just bored and looking for someone to chat with. "Your girlfriend is really beautiful."
"She's not my girlfriend," Jake shook his head.
"Not?," the young man blinked slightly, then laughed, "So you're still pursuing her? Well, buddy, you better step up your game. A goddess like her definitely won't lack suitors. If she's having you accompany her shopping, it means you have an advantage."
"You've misunderstood, our relationship isn't what you think," Jake clarified.
"What's there to be embarrassed about, buddy? Let me tell you, when pursuing a girl, you need thick skin. Don't feel shy. Like my girl friend, she rejected my advances at first, but I didn't give up. I kept pushing forward shamelessly until I succeeded," the young man boasted proudly.
Jake had no words. He couldn't exactly say that he and Xenia had a teacher-student relationship, could he? Who knows how this guy would look at him if he knew.
"Buddy, why that expression? Don't believe me? Let me tell you, do you know my nickname? 'J City Love Guru'! There's no woman I can't win over!" The young man proudly declared. "Ah!" However, his triumphant expression didn't last long. He suddenly let out a scream as his ear was pulled from behind, turning bright red in an instant.
The young man panicked and turned around, immediately showing an embarrassed and appeasing expression. "Honey, when did you get here? Did you finish trying on the clothes? Are you satisfied? If you're satisfied, let's buy them without hesitation."
"Forget about the clothes for now, I want to ask this 'J City Love Guru' here, how many girls have you been fooling around with apart from me? Weren't you the one who said I'm your first love? Why do you have so much experience and battles fought? How many women were there before me?" The attractive-looking woman standing behind the young man, holding his ear, questioned him fiercely.
"Honey, I was just joking, just joking. You are my first love. I was just bragging, I haven't achieved anything," the young man quickly pleaded.
"I don't believe your nonsense. Come on, let's go home and have a serious talk. We're going to clarify this today," the woman said.
"Okay, okay, could you please let go first? It's really embarrassing to be pulled like this," the young man said.
"Hmph, you still care about being embarrassed?" The woman grumbled, her face full of anger, but she finally let go.
"Honey, I know you care about me the most," the young man grinned.
They left, one after the other, bickering as they went. When the young man was leaving, he even turned back and gave Jake a thumbs-up, making Jake burst into laughter. This guy was quite mischievous.
"Why are you so happy?" Xenia's voice sounded. Jake turned around, not realizing when she had come out of the fitting room.
"I met an interesting person," Jake replied, looking at Xenia and being amazed by her appearance.
Xenia was wearing the red dress she had just taken into the fitting room. Initially, Jake hadn't thought much of the dress, but now, seeing it on Xenia, it gave off a stunning vibe. The dress fit her perfectly, showcasing Xenia's graceful figure – her slender waist, fair skin, long legs, and her incredibly beautiful face – all radiated immense charm.
"How do I look?" Xenia saw Jake looking at her, and instead of feeling shy, she even turned around in front of him, releasing a captivating fragrance.
"Very nice, you look beautiful in it," Jake said.
"For once, you're not being Perfunctory?" Xenia said with a playful smile.
Indeed, this time Jake wasn't being Perfunctory; Xenia really did look quite stunning in the dress.
"Sir, your girlfriend has a great figure. This dress fits her perfectly. Others have tried this dress before, but nobody had the same effect as your girlfriend. I even think this dress was tailor-made for her," the saleswoman praised.
"It's not... You've misunderstood. She's not my..." Jake quickly tried to explain. However, his words were interrupted by Xenia: "I'll take the dress. Please wrap it up." She finished with a cheerful smile at Jake and then went back to the fitting room to change.
"Sure," the saleswoman was delighted. The dress cost over five thousand. Completing this sale meant a decent commission for her.
Jake had just seen the price of that dress. While he marveled at how expensive it was, he also couldn't help but be amazed at Xenia's generosity. The cost of the dress could cover his barbecue expenses for two or three days.
After Jake and Xenia exited the store, Jake had yet another shopping bag in his hand, containing the dress Xenia had just tried on.
"Those salespeople can be quite persuasive for the sake of their commissions," Jake couldn't help but remind her.
"What do you think of how I look in that dress?" Xenia countered.
"The dress is indeed nice and suits you well. However, the price..." Jake commented.
"As long as you think it looks good," Xenia grinned, "You don't think I bought the dress just because of what the saleswoman said, do you?"
"Why else would you?" Jake asked instinctively.
"Of course, it's because of you," Xenia didn't shy away, "If you think it looks good, I'll buy it."
Seeing Xenia's playfully challenging gaze, Jake turned his head awkwardly, pretended to cough a couple of times, and said, "There's a coffee shop up ahead. Let's grab a coffee." Without waiting for Xenia's response, he walked ahead.
Watching Jake's somewhat embarrassed figure, Xenia revealed a foxy smile, muttered to herself, "So innocent and cute. I'm even starting to have a soft spot for you." The coffee shop was quite busy. Jake and Xenia had to wait in line for a while before their turn.
"I noticed there's a watch store nearby. You go check it out. Wait for me there; I'll go to the restroom," Xenia said to Jake.
