A high jump over the river leaves everyone shocked. Her gloves get hotter. The purple aura propels her without anyone seeing it thanks to her mother's gloves. She backflips as she pulls her sword out of her scabbard.
The girl lands as a few heads fall on the ground. The bodies are down and blood is painting the ground. She walks forward. Her red hair is on her face covering her dark eyes.
The enemy soldiers are gathering around her. They saw how she killed the previous men. A shiver was going down their spine. Shuttering at the boy that looked like a beast ready to devour them. Just like in their well-known legend of the red dragon. The person with red hair coming from their king lineage that will bring peace to the world.
This boy wasn't here for peace. Also, he was on the other side. Not from Blackfield kingdom.
Gritting their teeth and gripping their sword they are ready to fight the boy whose eyes are still covered by the medium strands of hair that are messy.
Ilona gets hotter as her hands give off a smoky scent. Her mind is not sane anymore. The nightmare that she has in her mind is intertwined with reality. Her rage is growing as the image of the soldiers killing her mother overlaps the image of the men in front of her.
She breathes heavily and sprints. One soldier is blocking her swing as he steps back. He gasps. Sweat is dripping down his neck as he feels his neck slashed in a few seconds as she rotates herself while fighting another soldier.
Ilona evades the three soldiers that are circling her. One hand flies at the feet of the soldiers preparing to come for her. She cuts the arms of the last one of the three soldiers.
The man falls on his knees having a terrified face as he yells seeing his blood sprout from his arms. One swing. His head falls and rolls till it hits the leg of one soldier prepared to come at her.
The young fellow looks at the expression of the lifeless head. Fear makes him drop his sword as he looks at the girl running toward him.
She stops and looks at the man falling on the ground covering himself with his arms.
"Tsk…." She lets him live and goes for the soldiers coming to her. Her silent voice and wild movements are asking for someone more fearless to battle her.
A soldier with an ax is swinging that at her and she dodges it. Her agile body is short which makes it easier to avoid his hits. The man tires himself out and just as he is trying to swing his ax above her, she slips under his guard and pierces his neck with her sword. Ilona pulls the sword.
He gasps and groans as the blood flows more and more. His body collapses.
Ilona has her garments spotted by blood as well as her face. Not that she is sane to care about it. The girl continues to destroy the soldiers coming for her.
Grey looks terrified on the other side of the river. He took his men and now they want to cross the river.
The picture in front of him makes him think of a way to stop her madness.
As she leaves enemy soldiers dead behind her she heads in the heart of the village. Her arms are having shallow cuts, nothing compared with what she did to the men she fought with.
There are still soldiers coming from all directions. They circle her in the village marketplace.
She stops and catches her breath. Her grip on the sword is starting to lose strength as she feels her hands burn from the way she used her power to pass over the river.
She grabs her head with one hand as she feels dizzy. Moving her head a little makes her head clearer for a moment. Right when a soldier sends an arrow towards her heart. She spots the arrow before reaching her.
Ilona sees through her hair the arrow moving in slow motion. Just as the arrow was close enough to pierce her heart she catches it and tosses it aside.
The soldiers are gritting their teeth and understand through their eyes that they should come all at once to kill the boy. There is no other way.
At full speed, they point their sword and arrows at her as they prepare to kill the boy that destroyed half of their team.
The image is expressing how low were the chances that Ilona would survive. They are jumping and coming from all directions. Sharp objects are having her as their target.
She moves one leg in front of her and she twists her torso having her sword behind her as she wanted to perform a style of fighting that was one of her father's styles.
She remembers what her father thought her in case she was surrounded like this.
Her hands are tightened on the handle and as she tightens her abdomen, she exhales. Her eyes close for a moment.
The soldiers are a few millimeters from touching her when like a spinning top she cuts their heads before they are about to reach hers.
No one saw how she moved. They saw just a tornado of dust as heads were falling off.
Chopped arrows, heads, and arms are on the ground. The ground is bloody. She is seen in the dust as she comes forward on the red carpet.
The soldiers back off and tremble at the sight of the bloody demon.
A cry is making her head move left. A little girl is squatted down near a dead body.
In Ilona's head, the nightmare is shifting from the killers to the victims as she remembers how Anise was crying when their parents were executed. She wants to go and hug the little girl. She throws her sword and walks towards the girl.
In her mind the little girl was her Anise … Small and helpless. She needed to protect her. Her sword wasn't supposed to be in her hand. As Ilona approaches the girl, the kid looks scared at her.
Ilona looks at her palms and her garments. Blood everywhere.
She feels her head hurt as she sees the little girl backs up when she tries to approach her.
"Don't! Don't run …." Her voice is raspy and sad as she realizes that the kid was scared of her.
A commander from the enemy side is moving his hand down as the archer on top of one house arches his bow.
The arrow hits her back. A gasp is heard. She pulls the arrow and steps closer to the little girl.
Her behavior is showing how much trauma she went through in her childhood. Her mind is not sane now to do this while soldiers are after her.
As if no pain can stop her from giving a hug to the kid...as if her life didn't matter to her….
"Shhhh…. come here. "Her arms are open and she squats down. Another arrow is hitting her. This time her shoulder.
She ignores it and clears her face with her gloves which are painted a dark red color. Her face is feminine and the kid stops crying. Her smile is encouraging the little girl to come into her arms.
Another arrow is piercing her back and her smile is a little crooked.
"Don't be scared …. you will be safe in my arms.." The kid runs in her arms. She covers the girl with her arms and buries her head in the kid's black dusty hair.
"Everything will be fine…." She whispers ….. while a tear lingers on her cheek.
Soldiers are looking like they see a ghost and don't understand where her previous beasty behavior went out of nowhere.
They are a little scared to make a move since she seems to be so unpredictable and how she doesn't even seem to feel the arrows in her back is also rising their fear more.
The commander yells with power.
"Kill the redhead now!"
They gather their courage and stride forward step by step prepared to fight one last time the boy with red hair that looks inoffensive now.
Grey and his men are arriving and they see what's going on. The red-haired person is covering up the kid as he has arrows piercing his back.
"Atack!" He screams his lungs out and his men rage running and start to kill the soldiers that are derailed by their arrival. The battle is now equal and fair.
Grey makes his way with his sword till he reaches Ilona.
He squats down and rises a strand of her hair. She is having her eyes close. The kid is nestled in her arms and the small hands are gripping Ilona's sleeve.
"Come here …." He takes the little girl in his arms and throws Ilona on his shoulder.
He moves with fast steps to a house that was not yet burned.
"Redhead …. Hey! "He whispers but no sign from the girl.
The kid is having her hand around Grey's neck and looks at Ilona from behind.
She lets go of his neck and looks into the man's eyes.
"He will be fine, right?" Her tears are about the fall.
"He will be fine …" Grey wants to believe that too.
