Chapter 13 - Yuvan

Once I got out, I expected to see at least one dead body outside the room of the dungeon boss, but there weren't any dead bodies in front of the door. That either meant that the children all managed to escape, or the spiders ate them down to the bones. But spiders don't usually eat bones, so I was sure that they managed to escape.

There were a lot of scorch marks and broken rocks scattered around the area and it showed that they didn't get out easily. They must've fought their way out. The sound of skittering came from the other side of the tunnel and I turned to it with a glare. There were hundreds of small spiders inside the tunnel, but once they saw me, they cowered and moved back. They knew that I killed their boss, so they didn't stand a chance against me. Once I leave, it will take three hours for the dungeon to reset and revive the dungeon boss. I would have stayed back to run the dungeon a second time, but I was already tired.

I left the dungeon calmly and I noticed the looks of shock on the faces of the two guards that were standing in front of the labyrinth as I passed them.

"Hey, isn't that the dead kid?" one of them said in shock as he stared at me, "Tell me you're seeing this too,"

"Shut up, he'll hear you. Should we call it in?" The second one asked, "Everyone thinks he died in there. That girl, Clara, was crying as if her life just ended."

"Nah, no need to call it in. He's already going towards the guild, so he'll see them there," the first one said as he shook his head, "I'm sure they'll be happy. But how did he manage to escape that large horde of spiders?"

I was glad that they didn't ask too many questions. That is one thing I liked about rankers. They don't really care what happens inside a dungeon as long as you come out alive and they never ask too many questions.

I made it to the guild and walked up to the receptionist, "I'd like another room," I said as I dropped the skill book on the table, "I want twice the amount of food you brought yesterday and I also want that bath. Take the cost out from here and hand me the rest of the money."

The receptionist didn't look like she heard me because she was just staring at me like I was a ghost, "You're alive?" she asked and I narrowed my eyes at her before repeating myself. This time, she shook her head to clear her mind before answering, "P-Please hand over your badge and the permit from the mission."

I handed them over and her eyes widened as she saw the E printed at the right-hand corner of my badge, "Please wait a moment… I need to speak to the guild head!" The receptionist didn't waste any time before she ran into the back room. I took the skill book on the table and put it in my purse.

"Jason?" a voice called out from behind me. I turned around to see Johnny and Hugo standing there. The rest of the group wasn't with them, "Is that really you?" Johnny asked.

"Who else would it be?" I asked sarcastically

"But, you died!" Johnny shouted hysterically, "I saw you enter that boss room myself!"

I could see some red around his eyes and I realized that he had been crying. These children only met me yesterday and they are already crying about my death? Adventurers die every day and I didn't think that anyone's death was worth crying over, "How did you get out of that room?" He asked.

"I killed the boss," I said and I watched shock ripple over their faces. Hugo immediately pushed Johnny to the side and faced me directly, "What do you want?" I asked.

"How did you kill it?" Hugo asked

"I beat I with a stick till it stopped moving," I said and a look of irritation appeared on his face to show that that wasn't the answer he was looking for, "I just killed it," I finally said, "Do you need to know anything more than that?"

"You used some demonic art, didn't you?" Hugo sneered and I scoffed. I should have expected someone from the church to say something like that.

"Just get my money ready," I turned away from them, "I'll come to collect it after I'm done talking with the guild head."

"Aren't you even going to meet Clara first?" Johnny asked, "She's been crying nonstop all day cause she thinks you died! Even Mark was injured while we were escaping. Just show them that you're okay."

I glared at Johnny and he immediately took a step back, "Between she and I, who do you think needs to come to apologize to the other?"

"So you're the brand new E ranker," a voice spoke up from behind the counter and I turned to see the guild head standing there. She was a tall woman with red hair and red eyes. She wore a black long coat over a tank top and long trousers, and there was a cigarette in her hand as she looked at me curiously, "You're just a kid."

"And you're an old woman," I snapped back and I could immediately see her eye twitch, "Do you really want to bring age into this?"

"You've got a sharp tongue on you, eh?" The woman smirked dangerously, "I like that. Come over to the back, we have to talk."

This guild master was named Yuvan. She was in charge of all the adventurers on the first floor. She was a veteran D- ranker and this was the first time I would be meeting her in both lives. In my last life, she died very early during the war against the Others. I only saw her name on the memorial stone and that was it. I didn't think that I would meet her in this life either.

I walked around the counter and entered the back room where the guild head's office was. It was a simple office with a window view of a pond and a table and chair. There were two couches facing each other and the guild head told me to sit on one of the couches.

"Want something to drink?" she asked and I nodded without even thinking about it. I haven't had a drink since I came back and I didn't care if this body was fifteen, I needed that drink. Yuvan dropped a cup on the table and I took a drink and sighed disappointedly as I dropped the cup back, "Soda?" I asked in disbelief, "Really?"

"Did you really think I'd give alcohol to a minor?" Yuvan asked in confusion as she sat opposite me, "I'll lose my job."

Yuvan didn't look like she did this just to spite me, so I just let it go and picked up the drink again. Yuvan crossed her leg and put her hand across the back of the couch as she spoke, "So tell me the truth, how did you do it? Cause if what my receptionist is saying is true, then you were only an F rank yesterday. How did you suddenly rise two ranks in just one day."

"Isn't it rude to ask something like that?" I asked.

"Not when the person asking can revoke your badge and report this to the tower council of elders," Yuvan said seriously, "I need to know what you did in there."

"I killed the boss. That's all I'm going to tell you and you're going to stop asking about it."

Yuvan was surprised at my straightforward answer and she sighed as she took another sip from her drink before dropping it, "Do you have any proof?" she asked.

I produced the skill book and dropped it in front of her. Yuvan picked up the book and she nodded her head as she read the description. It was an E rank skill so Yuvan knew that it was from the dungeon boss, "I was planning to sell this anyway," I said. The skill was rare and it was also an E rank, so I wasn't going to sell it for a cheap price, "You can hold onto it and I'll take the cash. I'll sell it for Two hundred and fifty bronze coins."

Yuvan gave me a deadpan look, "Are you some sort of swindler?" she asked, "I'll give you two hundred and you'll say thanks, you little brat."

"You either give me two thirty or I'll sell that on the black market and it'll end up in the hands of some shady serial killer," I retorted and Yuvan blinked in shock.

"You really aren't like any kid I've ever seen before," she said as she took a slow drag from her cigarette, "Fine, you little charmer, I'll give you two hundred and twenty five and I'll take five for the guild commission," she said as a final offer and I agreed to that.
