The court was half filled with lawyers and attorneys, each dressed in their best attire. We've spent the last two days and three hours going back and forth with this case, but today was the day it all ends.
I sat in the courtroom, my gaze fixed on Anna's who was now standing before the judge. The atmosphere was heavy with tension, but I remained unflinching, my emotion devoid of remorse as the judge pronounced her sentence.
"Mrs. Hardwood, for the charges of attempted murder, this court sentences you to eight years of imprisonment."
I watched as the color drained from Anna's face. Her eyes were filled with sadness and disbelief, and soon tears began to trickle down from them. Her gaze met mine, her eyes searching for some semblance of support or understanding, but she found none. I sat there, unmoved, and unbothered by the pleading looks in her eyes.
