All of Everton was present as Faye descended from the second floor of the keep. Each person bowed in polite reverence to her and the Duke, making a pathway for them to pass as they completed their descent to the first floor.
No one had seen Faye except her personal staff in the last four days since the sword competition. Faye caught the soft murmurs and whispers from the crowd. They were all talking about her. They had noticed her pregnant belly.
She saw Sterling's posture grow straighter. He seemed to have a fresh spring in his step, strutting with her on his arm like a proud peacock.
She giggled, then leaned into him and asked. "You like all this attention? Or is it you are proud to have a pregnant wife?"
"The latter," he answered with a humorous grin.
Faye's cheeks flushed at his answer.
"By the God, you are so beautiful when you do that," he said, gazing at Faye.
