Faye held her head high and arrogantly strode back to her room. She would become her vacant, emotionally empty self once more and wear her invisible armour, shielding her heart and mind so no one else could find their way inside and cause her any more harm.
Kylek stood beside Kalandra and watched as she walked past them with an air of confidence, even considering all that they had witnessed and heard.
"Duchess," Kalandra's voice faltered, and she fell silent, unsure if this was the right moment to speak.
Faye's reply was sharp as she firmly intoned, "Do you have something you would like to say? Something more to add to what his Grace has already made abundantly clear? And I don't need your pity either, so stow it away!"
Kalandra flinched at Faye's biting remark. "Uh…no, no, nothing like that at all—I, Ah; I mean, we just wanted to let you know we are here for you if you need us."
"Huh…"
