The room was dark when Faye opened her eyes, and she felt Sterling's heated, sweaty body crushing hers. The curtains on the windows were drawn, so she could not tell the time of day.
They were both still exhausted and recovering from the fight with Aaron earlier that morning.
"Sterling," she whispered, shoving at his shoulders, "Wake up…I want to talk. I can't sleep."
"Mhm…I'm up…" he said, his voice still gravely from sleep. The Duke sat up in the bed, and Faye felt his hands drag her with him. Before she knew it, they were sitting up, leaning against the headboard of their bed in each other's arms.
She heard Sterling ask, "Why can't you sleep?"
"My conscience won't let me rest." Faye replied.
"Mmm, I see…," he said, "Then just tell it to shut up and go back to bed, ignore it."
"Pfft…" Faye scoffed at his suggestion, "That's easier said than done."
"Then what is it telling you?" he inquired.
