Using his arm to wipe the sweat out of his eyes. The Duke took a fighting stance with his sword readying for Aaron's next attack.
The two men stood off, staring down at each other without moving. The tension between them was like a wire wound tight waiting to snap.
Sterling observed Aaron's eye twitch with fatigue, and then his gaze averted to Faye. He remarked, "She is turned into a lovely flower under your care, I see."
He tilted his head to the sky, taking a deep whiff of the air. Aaron continued, "And you have plucked her innocence."
A wicked grin played across his lips as he revealed what he knew. "And she is carrying your child…" he spat angrily.
"No wonder you have been so protective and caged her away like a precious jewel from the world."
The Duke stepped forward to prevent Aaron from getting any closer to Faye. He physically placed himself between them.
