The Holy Knights stood frozen in place, their bodies rigid and unmoving. Their swords remained sheathed, unable to be drawn as if trapped in time. The air was filled with an eerie silence, broken only by the soft footsteps of Faye and the Friar as they passed by rigid knights.
Sterling stood by the open carriage door, a sense of urgency in his stance. He was eager to leave before whatever spell passed that kept the Holy Knights from attacking.
Merrick, Cartrer, and Dahlia had mounted their stallions. They were all prepared for a hasty departure back to Everton. The entourage was still taken aback because the holy knights had not moved or attempted to stop them from leaving.
