Sterling rubbed his thumb over the crease in Faye's brow to soothe it. She closed her eyes and enjoyed the infinitely tender touch of his warm fingers as they carefully smoothed the wrinkle away above the bridge of her nose.
His smile conveyed a sense of contentment. He remarked, "Ah, much better. Frowns don't suit someone as lovely as you."
Faye's cheeks flushed bright red at his comment. Then she watched his expression from sweet to serious as he inquired once more, "So, tell me, how do you think what we were just speaking of will affect you? Remember, you did mentioned familial ascension."
She lay beside Sterling, pondering over the weight of his words. As he looked at her, he could almost see the cogs turning in her mind as she pondered the question. He observed her grow pale and shudder involuntarily.
