As they made their way into the bedchamber, The Duke could feel her heart throbbing against his chest. He gently placed Faye on the bed and sat beside her, giving her a moment to collect herself before they spoke.
Taking a deep breath, she looked up at him with tear-stained eyes and whispered, "I don't know how to do this. I don't know how to be your wife, much less a saintess. What am I supposed to do?" Her eyes carried an unfathomable suffering in them as she expressed herself.
He watched as tears spilled over the rims of her eyes, flooding her blushed cheeks.
The Duke took her hand in his and gave it a reassuring squeeze. "We'll figure it out together," he breathed, softly. "We may have started this marriage and relationship out of a Duke's required duty, but that doesn't mean we can't make something more of this situation and bend it to our will."
