In a clean, well-lit hospital room, a critical care unit to be precise, a patient could be seen sleeping on the bed. The room was silent except for his mild breathing, and the sound of ECG machine beeping.
The patient was sleeping peacefully on the bed with an indifferent smile on his face. This made his already handsome face truly irresistible.
Although his face may make him look perfectly fine, but looking at his body, you might think twice. His muscle mass was at its bare minimum, to the point that even his bones were visible.
One might question whether he was still alive, but he was just a typical case of comma. Being bedridden for so long provoked the disintegration of his muscles and even the weakening of his bone.
.....
Keith's been in a coma for three months, and this period of dormancy has taken quite a toll on his body.
All of a sudden his peaceful face turned into a struggling one, his breathing became heavy, he started clutching the bedsheet tightly, his hands were trembling, and soon enough he opened his eyes.
* Huff..! * * Huff..! *
Panting heavily, he tried looking around.
' Where am I..? , and where is that women. '
He tried to get up, but suddenly, feeling pain and soreness throughout his body, he couldn't even move.
"Ugh...! " He tried to push the bed with his hand to stand up, only to realise it was futile.
Unable to get up, Keith slowly turned his head, attentively observing his surroundings.
Unable to get up, Keith slowly turned his head, attentively observing his surroundings.
His eyes went on the ECG machine beside him, he could feel the leads attached to his all over his body. There was a drip stand on his left side which was connected to a catheter in his left arm. He could sense the pungent odor of the disinfectant, and even his clothes looked like those of a patient.
' In the end, l didn't die '
' huh '
Keith heaved a sigh, he had no idea whether he should be happy or sad.
' That dream '
' No.., that wasn't a dream, but what was that lady trying to say '
....
" Remember Keith, you must become stronger, stronger than anyone else."
....
Remembering his last words Keith began to laugh, he was not at all happy, it was his way of covering up his pain.
' hehe.. hehehe.... Hahahaha '
' how ironic, you want me to become the strongest in the world, me who got beaten by some random ass guy who hadn't even awaken magic, me whose talent is so low that I can't even awaken magic, let alone use it '
' hehehehe..... '
He was fed up, he was sick of doing this.
* weep..! *
Every time you get a setback just laugh and move forward, he did that until now, but he was tired, tired of losing, tired of suffering, tired of pain, tired of life itself.
' Why...?, why...why...?, Dammit '
' Why didn't I die already...? '
' Why is this happening to me..? '
' Why not just let me die in peace '
' I don't want to live my life under oppression, I don't want to watch my family suffer, not anymore. '
' If you can't help me, at least let me die, let me die already '
He held up his one arm and brought it in front of his eyes, and he was clearly able to see the reason for his weakness.
Wiping his tears, Keith heaved a sigh.
" Looks like I've been in a coma for a while "
Pushing his hands against the bed, after a period of struggle, he was eventually able to get up. Looking at the window, he could tell that his room was fairly elevated above the ground.
" hehe..."
Using his right hand, he ripped of the catheter from his left hand. It was so reckless and inappropriate that just a little bit of bad luck and it would cause permanent damage to his hand, but Keith couldn't care less about it.
Blood was flowing down his right hand, and he didn't even bother looking at it.
Quickly getting all the ECG leads off his body, taking the support of the drip stand he stood up.
His legs were shaking, he was sure to fall if he gave up support.
Putting all the weight of his body onto the drip support, he pulled his body with it.
Slowly dragging his body, he made his way to the window.
" That's good "
Seeing that the window had no safety rods, Keith stepped forward.
" hehehe..., Good, now I can end it "
"No more Reincarnations, no more suffering"
"Let me just die in peace."
Suddenly he started hearing strage voices, his eyes widened, heart was beating so fast that he felt like his chest would explode.
He tightly clutched his head with one hand, while taking support of window with the other.
....
"Mamma..., my eye, it hurts. '
"Don't worry baby mamma will soothe all the pain "
* Mwah..! *
" Does that help..? "
" Humm...*
...
" Mamma, where are we going..? "
"We're going to meet your grandmother "
...
" Mamma don't go away "
" Mammaaaaa...."
....
" Mamma "
Keith's expressions were deformed, confused, agonized, his heart was filled with grief.
" What's happening with me..? "
He clutched his fist tightly, gathering every bit of strength in his body he slammed his hand against the window.
* Bang..! * * Crack..! *
" Why..! "
* Bang..! * * Crack.....! * *
" Why...! "
" Why....! why...! whyyyy.....! "
He kept slamming his hand against the window, again and again and again, until it finally crumbled into pieces.
* Crack..! *
* Shatter...! *
As the glass shattered and shards of glass came flying towards him, some bouncing back off his skin while some digging deep inside.
Both his hands were bleeding, his face was bruised with splinters sticking out of the cuts.
" Why can't I remember her face "
" Aaaaaagggghhhhhh.....! "
He let out a cry full of agony as he collapsed on the ground.
* Weep..! *
" Please let me remember "
" Pleassseee...! "
* * *
In the hallway, two women were heading for Keith's room.
One of them was wearing a white coat and was likely a doctor, but the other woman was quite fascinating.
The lady had her eyes covered with a piece of cloth and was still walking perfectly, as though it did not bother her in the least.
"Ash are you sure, you really want to do this for free"
" Hum... "
" It's kind of weird "
" What..? " Hearing that, the blindfolded lady was a little confused, it was her first visit to other countries and she didn't know how things worked here.
"You know, you'd have to pay the tax money yourself, if you want to give it completely free for the patient."
" Tax money..? " Brought up in a temple for most of her life, she had no idea of the modern workings of the government.
"Well, I know nothing about your country, but here the government collects a fairly large amount of tax from the medical field, and the government representatives are even worse, they use this legislation to extort money for themselves "
" What a bunch of crooked fellows " The taxes themselves came as a surprise to her, but hearing about the extortion of money she understood why her sister said the outside world is full of bad people.
" Well, I have some money my sister gave me on my way out, so maybe I can pay it. "
Hearing Ash's words the other lady sighed, she for some reason didn't believe that ash had enough money to pay the tax, but she didn't want to disappoint Ash, so she kept her mouth shut.
" You know you don't have to do it "
" But didn't you say that his family didn't have much money and that they could barely afford the hospital bills "
" And it's not like I'm 100% sure about success, it's the first time I'm dealing with a patient with such a heavy neural lesion. "
"I really don't understand, why do so much of a stranger"
" I only hope to save his life, that's all "
The smile on Ash's face while saying that was just irresistibly charming, even the lady become flushed for a second.
* shatter....! *
" What just happened..? "
Both of them went rushing towards Keith's room.
The moment she came across the door, she slammed it open.
Looking at the scene inside made then bewildered.
