My nose raises into the sky. For a moment the scent washes over me. Something that smells oh so familiar.
That bundle of fur shakes in my pocket and I find myself searching the horizon.
Somewhere! She's somewhere around here!
Likely invisible and snickering at my search.
I search everywhere. Even Cassandra seems a bit disturbed at my effort. Seemingly startled by my fervor.
But my instincts are screaming at me. This heat… I've never felt so needy before. And all from the faint perfume of this- this other fox.
My teeth grit. And I take a moment to catch my breath.
"Hey!" Cass shouts. Her hand falls on my shoulder. "What- What was that?"
My scowl deepens.
"I wasn't truthful."
She huffs.
"I know that. You came here searching for another of your kind… whatever that is."
I nod.
"She's here. Somewhere. Watching. And- And my body's reacting."
