[Before the death of the boy, a day ago]
A dark plain, a world devoid of light and sound. Of all of the things that would invoke sensations. I drifted here, my mind almost catatonic.
Lost, I was terribly lost, there was no place for me. No place for the thoughts that raced through my mind. It was like a kaleidoscope of nothing.
A black void that held everything yet nothing. It was like it was above my understanding, infinite dimensions, all just one grasp out of my reach.
Yet even then, even with all of my senses lost, with my vision seeing nothing but the black void. I was still able to feel something.
A tug on my soul that bypassed my body and touched directly at me. A whisper of agony, of sensations barely known to me.
Eternity. It had been eternity since I was able to think rationally, and even then. Even after all of those years, after each and every fading of my mind. I was still able to remember things. To keep my memories.
