Blasts of flame, scorching with heat nearing that of the sun - or so I wish. It burns everything before suddenly evaporating into nothing more than fumes.
But before it could do that it did its purpose. Creating a blazing fury of energy. Entrapping those that it had wanted and burning those that could not resist it.
I found my tails curling tightly over the woman in my grip. Her black hair covering my eyes and veiling my sight. She clenched tightly to my shoulder. Unshed tears falling down her eyes.
As if she thought I could not notice. But I do. Even then I say nothing, I don't comment on the soot covered face, nor the small lines that drip down her face. Nor the small, almost inconsequential smell of sweat.
