Adding to his intrigue was the mention of curses by the voice. Could it be referring to what had transformed the inhabitants of the second floor into monsters? If this place was indeed one of the sources, Ivan faced a danger that his immortality could not easily overcome.
"What curse?" Ivan inquired, hoping to verify his theory.
"The... curse... around... The one that plagued the living... birthed the monsters," the voice cryptically replied.
"And you are one of those monsters, I assume," Ivan ventured.
