Chapter 6 - Hunted 2

Dele had called Daisy to their office. He had just made a discovery that could be a lead on the case. Daisy was in the office, impatiently waiting for him to tell her what he had just discovered.

"So?" She asked, standing arms akimbo.

"Well, it's about the murdered girls." He uttered.

"I know. What did you discover?" She asked.

"Well, we know their fathers are billionaires. Each owning a household firm in this country. The first girl, her father chief Adedapo owns a steel mining firm. The second girl, her father Chief Uchemba owns a chain of Petroleum stations across the country and the father last girl that was recently murdered, owns a farm that produces most of the food in Lagos markets now." He uttered, showing her their pictures.

"Yes, it's common knowledge. You think the murderer is targeting daughters of just billionaires with Nigerian based companies?" She asked mockingly.

"No, that's too stupid. I discovered all companies had 49% of their shares bought by one person months ago." He muttered.

"Who?" She asked, picking sudden interest.

"A man named Rekhin, he owns a power generating lab on the outskirts of Badagry."

"So you think what reasons the murderers have, it's all connected to this Rekhin?" She asked.

"Yes, it's the only pattern I've noticed."

"That means we're interrogating Mr. Rekhin." She spoke and turned towards the door.

"Where are you going to?" He questioned.

"To get a warrant. Goodnight Dele." She replied, shutting the door as she left.

Dele, feeling pressured knew there was more to Rekhin than just this. He feared it could be the supernatural. Well, he now had a supernatural that would eagerly aid him with his investigations.

"9:30 PM." He read the time aloud.

In that moment, his phone rang and he answered it.

"Aunty, good evening ma." He greeted the caller.

"Ahmad is missing." The caller replied and a worried look appeared on his face.

"Again? I'm on my way ma." He replied and hung up.

"The life of a cop isn't easy." He shook his head and left the office, signing out.

Sam, Matilda and Eleazar, all conscious, gathered around the central table in the living room. On the table was an arrow, one of the arrows the hunter had shot during his attack.

"We are saving him." Matilda said, banging her arm, curled into a fist on the table.

"Chill Matilda, why do you want to save him? Eleazar inquired, resting fully on the sofa.

"That kid. He hosts Azazel, the same bastard that wiped out my family years ago. Because of him, I had to abandon my children as we ran for our lives from him. He infused his DNA into our children before our very eyes, making them something else. For a reason, I know he knows something about our children. We need the boy alive. I can't also watch him ruin that boy's life." She explained angrily.

Sam pulled her into an embrace, calming her down.

"I'm sorry, It must have been a traumatic experience." Eleazar replied with a dejected look, knowing what had killed Matilda's family also killed his when he was young.

"We'll rescue him." He resolved.

"But we can't do it alone. We'll need help." He added immediately.

"Like you said, the pack wouldn't help, they're busy protecting themselves." Sam argued.

"Who said something about the Pack when I have mine?" He smirked.

"One beta doesn't mean you have a pack?" Matilda snorted.

"With two wolves." He replied.

"I'll get Funke, she's good at tracking, she'll locate where Ahmad is kept captive. As for Andy and Kemuel, they are the power houses. We'll need all hands on deck and we're rescuing him tonight." He explained.

"Hold up, we can't just rush into where he's kept captive. We need a plan." Sam suggested.

"I suppose you have one." Matilda asked.

"No. We don't even know the place yet. I guess we'll just swoop in to save him and trust in the gods to make it a successful rescue mission." He replied.

"Alright. I'll call the guys now. You guys should get ready, we're leaving by 7 PM." Eleazar announced and left the house.

Sam kissed Matilda's forehead as he rubbed her shoulder.

"I promise, we'll bring him home safely." He whispered. He knew she doubted his words. He also doubted his words.

The Hunters were stronger than they used to be and now, they were probably Walking into a trap. He just hoped all would be well.

"You failed." Rekhin spoke as Tosin appeared, already weakened by the Hunter's arrow.

"You didn't see what I saw. He just sort of levelled up. His aura, his strength, his speed, all amplified." The boy replied and settled on a chair, relaxing every muscle of his body.

"Apparently, you are incapable of doing the job. I guess I'll find another person." The older Demon spoke and turned, staring at the wall.

Tosin looked at the floor. He was already loving this life, the life of a supernatural contracted killer. Failure wasn't going to let him lose it just when he had just began.

"No, I am capable. I guess I'll just need more time. I'm sure you also saw who the fuck attacked us, are they hunters of some sort?" He inquired.

"Yes they are." Rekhin responded.

"In fact, they are capable of killing us." He added, sending a jolt of fear into the boy.

"What the hell? I sensed a weird aura around the hunter, it felt like he was fluctuating between human and supernatural." Tosin replied.

"Because that is what they are. They are humans and eventually evolve to being beyond the ordinary."

Tosin sighed. He thought the life of being hunted was over, now he discovered he was in another, even more dangerous.

"Can the supernatural hunters be stopped?" He asked Rekhin who had resumed his operation on the laptop.

"Yes, they might be invincible but they can be murdered just like humans." He replied without looking up from the computer.

"I need some air." Tosin uttered and disappeared.

"I've traced the scent on the arrow." Funke said as the team of Eleazar, Matilda, Sam, Andy, Kemuel and her all surrounded the Jeep they were to take.

"Can you lead us there?" Matilda asked and opened the driver's seat.

"I actually know the place, it's a warehouse in a forest in Ifo, Ogun State." She replied sharply.

"It's far from here." Kemuel muttered.

"If we're lucky, we'll get there in two hours but I fear it might be a trap." She uttered.

"What do you mean?" Matilda asked.

"It is also an Armoury. My guess is that the hunters know we'll be coming." She replied.

"Shit." Sam cursed, bringing his palm against his forehead.

"We'll still have to go ahead with the plan and here's what we'll do. Me and Samuel would walk in and make the attack. Kemuel and Matilda would go in search of Ahmad and save him. Andy and Funke, you are our last hope. In case things don't go as plan, retreat and inform the pack." Eleazar elaborated.

There was total silence in the room at first.

"A bad plan is better than no plan." Kemuel chuckled and got into the vehicle.

"Alright, let's go." Matilda agreed and got in, the others followed suit.

"So you don't have a backup plan for us?" Eleazar asked Sam as they hit the road.

"One, let's just hope Azazel cares about the kid and goes full Demon form on the hunters to save our asses." He responded, keeping a straight look.

Slowly, Ahmad began to regain consciousness. He felt a some warmth on his face and opened his eyes. It was a bulb. He wanted to move but realized he had been chained to the wall, his wrists cuffed and attached to the wall.

"Rise and Shine, young master." A voice spoke, making him look ahead. Before him was a middle aged man. He had a fair skin and maintained a calm look. It was Daisy's father although he was oblivious to that fact.

"He's a hunter." Azazel mumbled.

"Shit, he's going to kill us." Ahmad muttered. He scanned the entire room, looking for a form of escape. Sadly, he found none.

"Thinking of escaping? It's impossible." The man said with a soft chuckle.

"What do you want with me?" The boy yelled.

"Isn't it obvious?" The man responded with a question.

"You want to kill me. Fine, kill me." The boy uttered angrily.

"I don't want to kill you. You see boy, you interest me. You have a Demon in you, I have a discussion with him." He responded.

"Don't." Ahmad growled as Azazel made to speak.

"He wants me, not you. Don't play hero." Azazel argued.

"He'll kill both of us, can you leave my body? No, because he also has you trapped with me." Ahmad spoke.

"Just let me talk to him!" Azazel bellowed.

"What do you want?" Azazel asked, now taking control of the body.

"I despise your kind." The hunter uttered.

"Great, makes us two. How about you set me free and I help you kill my cousin?" Azazel chuckled.

"You are funny. I think I like you." The hunter smirked and stepped forward.

"You have some unique abilities. You just don't realize them yet." The hunter turned abruptly as another hunter, his subordinate ran in, panting heavily.

"They are here, Werewolves. They're here for him." He said, pointing at Ahmad. The latter smirked, biting his lips and spitting out blood.

"Let's just say, the rescue party came." He laughed.

"I know. Let them come, I'm ready for them." He laughed and Ahmad(Azazel's) countenance changed.

It was a trap.

.

.

.

Two hours later, the guys parked the car 300 metres from the warehouse, hiding it behind a tree.

"So you guys know the drill. We break in, take down any resistance and rescue Ahmad." Matilda spoke.

She received an affirming nod from the team.

"Good. Let's go." She spoke and paired with Kemuel while Eleazar and Samuel sprinted forward.

Two hunters guarding the warehouse noticed the leaves crumbling under fast footsteps and aimed their guns in the direction of the sound, turning the safety of their guns on.

Suddenly Samuel pounced in from the right and bit a hunter, causing him to scream. Immediately his partner pushed the trigger, he felt his neck muscles loosen and he fell unconscious on the ground.

Eleazar opened the door and jumped between two patrolling hunters, causing both to shoot simultaneously. He dodged, allowing bullets to stone both of them.

"Matilda, Kemuel. Go right." Samuel instructed, ensuring the path was clear of hunters.

Both walked through the path, then came upon a door. They could hear three heartbeats.

"I break the door, you break bones." She instructed and with a kick, sent the door flying forwards. Kemuel jumped in and snapped the first hunter's neck then rushed, spearing the other, then stood, still holding his waist and slammed him on the floor. The third hunter had taken off and they were in pursuit. Suddenly they halted, realizing they had lost him. They went straight, hoping to find Ahmad. Three minutes later, they got to the largest part of the warehouse, it seemed like a torture room and there was Ahmad, cuffed to the wall. Before she could make a move, a gun's nozzle touched her skull, making a click sound. Now walk towards the boy, missy." The hunter instructed and she did, alongside Kemuel who had his hands in the air.

At that point, Samuel and Eleazar burst in, both with guns pointed behind their skulls.

"This would be fun." The hunter smirked and pushed them towards the wall.

"Now, for safety." He spoke and laced the floor with Mountain ash, which was now in a straight line, trapping them.

"Guys, you came for me." Ahmad smiled.

"It was Matilda's idea honestly." Samuel chuckled.

"Well, we're all going to die now." Matilda scoffed, her face on the floor.

"It's a good thing to have you all packed here. Honestly, I couldn't ask for a better night." The hunter laughed.

"Just get on with it, sick bastard." Kemuel said indifferently.

"Oh I will. We're going to play a little game called 'Dodge the bullet'. Lucky for you guys, you are Shape shifters. Unless it's a headshot, you wouldn't die." He laughed again.

"Umm guys, I'm chained here. I can't dodge bullets." Ahmad spoke as the guys all shifted.

"Just break the fucking chain." Eleazar spoke.

"Oh, I can?" Ahmad said as he broke free, now taking a stance.

He wondered how he or Azazel didn't think they could break it down earlier.

"One more thing, call me Hunter." The hunter said and made to leave the room.

"Game on." He smirked and left them to their doom.

"Guys, we need to escape, we'll die." Kemuel spoke as automatic rifles emerged from the walls.

"We're dead." Sam spoke indifferently and the guns started firing.

They all screamed, they had been shot in the stomach although they tried to dodge. The round of bullets finished and they all pooled together, healing from their wounds.

"Azazel, please do something." Ahmad begged as the last two bullets emerged from his fingers, dropping on the floor.

"Teleportation." He replied and took control. The guns were reloading already. He had to be hasty.

He stretched his arm and spun it in a motion, opening a flaming portal.

"It could have lead us to our desired destination but the mountain ash cut it short. Let's see if I'll be able to pass through." He explained and got in. Instantly, he got thrown back at the wall violently. The mountain ash was fully effective.

"Okay, I take it we're dead." He chuckled, backing against the wall.

Ahmad took over, his eyes focused on the portal. He looked the guys, they had come to save him. He needed to free them from this predicament.

"I have an idea." He sprung up and walked towards the portal.

"Azazel, leave my body." He commanded and the latter, already understanding the plan, emerged from the boy's body. Suddenly Ahmad got through to the other side of the portal which was surprisingly on the brink of the mountain ash. He broke it with his foot and in that moment, a torrent of bullets launched.

The guys had all gotten up and manoeuvred, save for Ahmad who had been shot in the back.

Instantly, Azazel bonded with him and the healing process triggered. He coated Ahmad with a metal armour and shot bullets towards the rifles from his fingers, destroying them.

"Let's get out of here." Sam said and held him by the side, heading out of the room.

Hunter stood before the computer screen, watching them escape his trap. He had expected it...or not.

He sipped from the tumbler of orange juice and set it on the table, giving a satisfactory sigh.

"They escaped." Daisy spoke, interrupting his silence.

"I know." He said with a smile.

"And you aren't surprised or mad?" She asked, puzzled.

"Yes. I expected it. Now,I know what the boy and the Demon are, they share a bond." He explained.

"So this was just like a test?" She asked, seeming uninterested.

"Yes daughter, it is a test. Now, those puny creatures shall suffer."

To be continued...
