And that's how we spent the next two weeks. Every day was a day of endless killing of goblins, orcs, wyverns and anything else that was in Hati's way. Well... It was Hati who killed them. I was either sitting on him or waiting under the barrier. The remaining time was spent cooking when Hati and Groot were hungry. I don't have to worry about running out of meat for a long time. What has probably changed most is my level.

Two days ago, I reached level 40 and received a notification that, as the owner of a vassal weapon, I must synchronise it at the nearest hourglass in the place where I was summoned to this world. Another important thing is that today the guild master should finally have information about the events in Melromarc over the last 3 months and news about the heroes. Looks like I'll have to come back after all. It will be different this time, though, as I will not be alone. If anything goes wrong, there's always Hati.
This morning, as soon as I got up and had my breakfast, I went to see the Guildmaster. Hati and Groot came with me. I sat in his office and listened to the information he had learned.

The Queen of Melromarc had to leave for a conference.
While the queen is away on a diplomatic mission, power and authority falls to the regent she has chosen before her departure. It was during one of these diplomatic trips that the waves of disaster suddenly began to ravage the kingdom and other regions of the world.
The king's sister died because of the demi-humans, and that's why he hates them. Since all demi-humans believe in the Shield Hero, the King hates him. The first portal spawned near the village with the demi-humans, and the King and the nobles used this as an excuse to get rid of them and capture them into slavery. During the first wave, the Queen's appointed Regent dies and the King takes power.
In violation of an international treaty, the king of Melromarc summons all four heroes and asks them to fight the waves. Upon hearing that Melromarc has summoned all four heroes, the leaders of the international conference almost go to war against Melromarc.
Meanwhile, the King and the First Princess continue to use and abuse their temporary power. The shield hero has been severely discriminated against on false charges.
Taking advantage of his ignorance, naivety and inexperience, they set a trap for him. The first princess disguised herself as an adventurer and was the only one to join the Shield Hero's party. On the very first night, she stole all his gold and armour and accused him of rape. She implicated the innocent Spear Hero, and a dispute between the four legendary heroes was born. As punishment, the king decreed that Shield Hero would have to defend the waves and that his crimes would be known throughout the kingdom.
Since he's a shield hero and has no damage (he can't use any other weapon), he bought a slave with his last money to have a way to level up.
Two weeks later, another wave came and they successfully dealt with it.
The problem is that the waves aren't just in Melromarcus, but all over the world, so the heroes have to be spread out in different countries.
There is a church in Melromarc where only three heroes are worshipped. Shield Hero is not one of them. Instead, he is worshipped as the only hero in other nations.Other nations that worshipped the Shield Hero, such as Siltvelt and Shieldfreeden, were deeply offended.

Fortunately, Queen Mirellia is able to negotiate a temporary peace at the cost of many weeks of peace talks.
The plots and conspiracies against the Shield heroes didn't stop there. There was a celebration after the wave, and the Shield Hero was invited. There, the king takes advantage of the fact that Shield has a slave in his party, and the Spear Hero challenges him to a duel. Shield Hero wins, but the first princess cheats and changes the result of the duel.
No one believed Shield Hero when he told them that someone had interrupted the duel, and the king proclaimed Spear Hero the winner. After the duel, he learned that Myne was actually the King's daughter and that her true name was Malty Melromarc. Upon learning this new piece of information, everything clicked in Shield Hero's mind, he finally understood that Malty was using him as a stepping stone to get closer to Spear Hero. Shield Hero had nothing but hatred for Malty and unlocked the condition of the curse series.

Shield Hero discrimination continues
After the second wave, the four heroes are summoned to the throne room to receive their rewards. While the other heroes receive around 4,000 silver coins, Shield Hero only gets 500. Frustrated, Shield Hero leaves the castle.

The Vassal Weapons are different from the Legendary Weapons because these weapons have the ability to allow the natives of the world to wield them if they prove themselves worthy. The users of these weapons are given the title of Vassal Weapon Holders or Vassal Heroes.
The holders of these weapons are nowadays referred to as Seven Star Weapons, and the users who wield them are given the title of Seven Star Hero. The Vassal Weapons are hammer, gauntlet, claw, staff, projectile, whip and chariot.
