Azel blinked down at her, as if he couldn't immediately grasp what she had said before he then flashed a knowing smirk. "I appreciate the flattery, Milady," he said. "But I'm aware."
Adelia was jolted out of her reverie by his response alone, and her turn to blink came with a sudden rush of embarrassment.
She turned crimson as the realization hit her; she had given the compliment to him unknowingly, and to make matters worse, he had downplayed it!
Adelia blushed even deeper and sputtered, "You... you arrogant man!" she shrieked. "You're supposed to say 'thank you' when someone compliments you!"
Azel quickly placed a hand over her mouth to shush her, and she stiffened immediately. "Thank you, Milady," he conceded with a smile that matched the twinkle in his eyes, so much so that Adelia couldn't look away.
