Adelia's eyes darted around nervously, her lips unable to form words. She had already imagined the conversation with Azel concerning his recent question in her mind, and the expected outcome was utterly absurd!
How could she possibly tell him that she had been so distressed just because her pet wolf ran away from her?
She couldn't, he would never understand.
And because he wouldn't, the revelation would be the most embarrassing thing on the continent and she'd sooner roll in mud than utter those words!
"It... it doesn't matter now, Lord Azel," she sputtered weakly. "I'm no longer upset, and I'm sure—"
Azel interrupted her by gently stroking her cheek again. "You're unwilling to tell me," he said simply.
