When Adelia heard the soft click of the door closing behind her, she finally realized they were gone. At that moment, the tears she had desperately been holding back began to flow uncontrollably.
The tear streaks stained her porcelain cheeks and she wiped at them furiously. But no matter how much she tried, they kept flowing and no matter how many times she swallowed, the bile in her throat refused to go away.
Within minutes, she found herself sitting on the floor of her chambers, silently crying the moisture out of her eyes as she wrapped her arms around her knees, holding them close to her chest.
