As the door closed, Midas stood there, still digesting her words while also gathering more clues on how she was doing.
To anyone else, it might have sounded like she was asking Midas for a baby, but to Midas, this might also be her asking for her memories back. Or maybe she was asking for both things.
If this was the case, did that not mean that Midas was being suspected of being behind this whole thing?!
If she was suspecting Midas, Midas had to find out how much she knew. As long as he knew that, he would then use what she knew to reinforce his deceptions instead of allowing such a crazy delusion to build up. He cared about her too much to let her lie to herself and break them up like that.
The easiest way to allay suspicions is to minimise them. This was why, when Midas began speaking, what he did was say something totally unrelated. "How are you feeling? Are you okay?"
