A few minutes later, Midas found himself walking around the alien settlement. Well, it wasn't even a settlement.
It turned out the Aliens had also been using a Living World as a live-in settlement to hide from the conditions in the Trial. Only a few people were out and about, acting as carriers who brought them forward, heading deeper into the tunnels of the maze.
The settlement was effectively a few shelters almost twenty aliens who looked at Midas and the Council with some vigilance.
Midas could see that look as something he might have recognised if he ever lived through a war. This was the look of a loser in a war, who knew their livelihoods were going to be adversely affected by the consequences of the actions of their leaders.
Midas sighed. He could not feel sorry for them. The reason was simple. Losers only have themselves to blame for their incompetence!
