Chapter 46 - The beginning of the race for the power feather

When Cedric heard that he needed no more explanations and wanted to get to work, he said, "Perfect, we only have to look for a power feather, an item of the langandary rank, and that against a whole kingdom. This is going to get funny. Amon, count me the tenth coat of arms in for the search for the item."

Items were divided into ranks based on the power of their effects. The ranks were: bronze, silver, gold, platin, rare, relic, legendary, and divine.

The heartfruit in this example is an item of rare rank. The effect was powerful, but it had a weakness: the user had to imagine in the slightest detail what had to be repaired and how. When Amon healed his arm back then, he had to think about the anatomy of his arm in the slightest detail and how it should grow. One mistake, and his arm would have been useless.

"No, we won't have to compete against a whole kingdom. We just have to be faster than two mages. The Ork brothers They already lost a lot of manpower in this war; they wouldn't risk more, so they sent a huge amount of that power out to get this item. They hired a guild, and this guild sent the Ork brothers out."

Personia saw that Cedric was not angry about this fact; he still seemed fired up.

"I am sorry, Cedric, but we can't send you out. Or what do you think about this, Amon? Personia gave the attention back to Amon, who, as the guildmaster, should decide who to send out.

"Let me think. Roxanne, Niles and Dorothea are out fighting. Which is pretty bad. Bjorn has worked since childhood only on armor and weapons. So we can't send out many."

Amon thought about the abilities and blessings the people in this room had, and then he remembered something.

'Right, I once met them.'

"Are there names, perhaps Gunnar and Leif?" Amon asked Personia, who answered with a simple yes. He remembered that he once fought with them. This was many years ago. Back then, only he and Leon traveled together. It was two days after Spellbander was founded. That is also the reason why Amon still remembers this day clearly.

"In this case, Jeanne, you are going to come with me. I know one or two things about them, and in order to be one step ahead of them, I need you."

Jeanne agreed to come with her; Cedric, on the other hand, looked annoyed and had a little glimps of disappointment in his eyes.

Jeanne, we will part in 15 minutes; take your armor, weapons, and anything else you need. When you are done, meet me at the main gate."

Amon made the rest understand that their job was to protect the guild now. He wanted to make it clear once again how wounded the guild was by now and that they should protect the guild no matter how dirty or repetitive the tactics were.

Amon picked his black crystal out of his pocket and warped himself to the seventh department. He walked through the door and felt an enormous heatwave the moment he opened the door. He felt how small sweat drops built up on his skin; it looked to him as if the forging furnaces had been in constant operation for days now and not a flame or ember ever went out. The first person Amon saw was Agnes, wearing a sports bra and red baggy pants that were covered with large white spots.

Agnes noticed Amon, and without a single word, he knew what he wanted. She pointed with her thumb in one direction. Amon heard the sound of metal hitting each other from the direction Agnes was pointing.

She really knew that he wanted to see Björn. Amon walked with quick steps in the direction and could see the silhouette of a giant human grill.

"Bjorn, is it finished?" Amon knew that Björn was in a state where he would not notice anyone; the only thing he could do to get his attention was to call him.

Björn looked up and noticed that Amon was coming towards him. He looked again at the counter-shad that was in front of him and then replied, "Yes, it is, and I'm mighty proud of it."

Amon walked closer and saw a single mattle staf. Björn handed him the staff, and the moment Amon touched it, the staff changed its shape to a simple ring.

"I and Personia worked long on this; the weapon changes to the kind of weapon you want. No matter if it is a sword, staff, axe, or spear. Every type of weapon is possible; it is just a thing of your imagination."

Amon took the ring and placed it on his right index finger. He looked at the ring, and the moment he saw it, his gaze swung to his left ring finger. He looked at his wedding ring. It was a cheap ring that was nothing more than a chiken on the mark. But for him, it was the most precious object he possessed.

'I will do it for you, honey, for your and everybody else's revenge."

"Good, and the armor?" Amon also requested powerful armor from Björn. Björn said nothing and moved his strong and mighty body to a door, walked through it, and a few minutes later came out with a leather armor.

Amon looked at it briefly, but then decided to trust his good friend and try it on. The black leather combined with gray elements fit him perfectly. He looked at it and saw a white mark on the chest. The mark looked like a It looked like a spiral that curled over his chest, grew apart, and then spread as multiple stripes over his entire armor. When he put on the part of the armor that supported his legs, the lien spread further on the pants to the brown boots and black gloves.

"This is the best armor you will get; use it and wear it, and your chances to survive are 100 percent. Börjn showed a huge smile that showed all of his gorilla teeth when he saw how the stripes spread the way he expected them to.

Amon thanked him and wished him good luck in his work. Björn replied that he was saved; the one who needed luck was Amon. Björn knew that Amon would only request the armor himself if he needed it.

"Björn, I promise to come back." This was the last thing Amon said before he warped himself to the main gate, where Jeanne already awaited him.

"There you finally are, and I already thought that you would never come."

Jeanne wore simple pants, leather armor that looked like a second skin for her, and plaid leather boots. The only thing she didn't miss was using a gemstone as a button on every piece of clothing. Jeanne was a woman who loved to live in wealth, which she did. In all of Silverwood, she had a monopoly on gold that no one else on the continent possessed.

"We have to hurry and get to the Syldran woods. We won't stop until we get there, so no complaining about a rest or something like that. Do you understand me?"

Jeanne could feel how serious Amon was, but she had nothing against it. In fact, she wanted to see this side of him. She was from all coats of arms, the last member, and with that, the member of the group who became a part of it the latest. She only ever heard stories from the other coats of arms about how ruthless, brutal, and an absolute villian he could be. But she had never experienced it herself, and she was ready to see it with her own eyes.

"The Syldran woods are quite far away; even we will need two to three days until we reach them. Are you sure that you don't want to make a break until we reach them?"

Jeanne never questioned Amon's powers, but this was, even for him, something impossible. Sprinting for two to three days without a break was impossible.

"I never said that we would run for this long. You only need the stamina to run for 22 hours straight. So that's it with the questions. Come."

Jeanne was surprised by the tone of Amon's voice at first; however, after thinking about it twice, she got excited.

'I may not be good with magic, but this needs something new.'

Her body got covered in some kind of air bubble, and slowly she began to sense gravity and hover in the air.

Amon's gaze shifted one last time at the air bubble, and then he decided to show himself. His body started to glow white and black at intervals.

'I can't use two skills from two different paths when I want to. But I can at least change them in a short amount of time.'

While traveling back from Nasia to the guild, he figured out that this worked perfectly when he wanted to use shadow and light steps at the same time. He can't do it right now. But he can change them at intervals, just as he needs them at the moment. So he could use the high speed of the light step and the silence and maneuverability of the shadow step at once without combining them like Thalos did back then.

"Good, from now on we will pick on a faster pase and not the slow pase like we did just now. Only concentrate on following me and nothing more."

These were the last words Jeanne heard from Amon before he dashed forward.
