Chapter 64 - Fourth Quest

Some time later.

Vivian finished her tutoring lessons with Marie about 2 hours ago and was currently making her through a crowded place in the Market District.

She was wearing the same attire as this morning -- brown cloak, a gold necklace with a vertically stretched sun pendant, and her usual adventuring gear underneath.

Vivian knitted her brows.

What's going on here…?

Is it just me or are more people looking at me…?

She shook her head mentally and focused on going where she had to go.

A few minutes later, she finally arrived in front of a small tent.

It was the shoe repair shop.

She originally planned to get her shoes yesterday around noon time as promised. But after visiting the Temple of Thieves and completing the Bukaroo Tail Quest in the morning, she then got caught up with the contract signing with Pana, meeting with Stonia, Class changing at the Temple of Priests, and then going to the compound where the Temple of Priests members live. By the time she was done, it was already night time and she was also tired and hungry.

She entered the tent and saw the owner, a man in his late 30s, repairing a shoe as usual.

"Hi, I'm here to get the pair of shoes I left here for repairs the other day ago."

The man raised his head and looked at her.

When he saw the cloak and necklace that Vivian was wearing, a surprised expression flashed across his face and he immediately tried to recall what he did to merit a visitation from the Temple of Priests.

But when he looked at her face, he finally remembered who she was.

Nevertheless, he was still surprised that Vivian was actually a Priest and he immediately got up.

"Greetings, Priestess, I have your shoes here," he said and bowed before grabbing the pair of shoes from a corner and handing them over to her like they were some prized heirloom.

"Thank you..." said Vivian.

"It was an honor to be of service!" the man said and bowed once again.

Vivian's eyes blinked a couple of times.

Well...

This is awkward...

I'm not sure how to react...

She shook her head mentally.

I don't have time for this...

I still have so many things to do...

"This is really good. Thank you," Vivian said as she inspected the pair of shoes on her hand.

The man raised his head and bowed once more.

"Thank you for your kind words, Honored Priestess!"

"Um...Can I ask you a question?"

The man raised his head.

"Anything, Priestess!"

Why is he always shouting...?

Vivian cleared her throat.

"Do you have any used items for sale? Like armor, weapons and whatnot."

A confused expression appeared on the man's face.

"I'm not sure if you remember me, but you sold me this pair of boots that I'm wearing for only 1 silver. And when I asked you if you were selling punching gloves, you gave me directions and I went there and was able to find so many shops there, even street vendors. However, the lowest prices there were at least 10 silver coins. So I was wondering if you have any old or used armor or weapons that you're willing to sell, or maybe you know some shops that could sell me things around the same price."

The man nodded.

"I now understand, Honored Priestess. So that's what you meant. Many people have the same idea, but I regret to inform you that you're chances of finding such prices are low."

"I see."

"Honored Priestess, if I may be bold, you're probably going to go to other repair shops and ask them, right?"

"Yes…?"

"There are many merchants and Blacksmiths who go around buying used and abandoned weapons which they will repair and re-sell. Many of them even have contracts and loyal patrons. And those street vendors that you've mentioned, they're part of it. So the chances of you finding one like those boots I sold you is very rare, especially the items that you specifically want."

Vivian became silent.

"And if I may be bold once more, Honored Priestess, you're better off just doing Holy Missions and saving money in order to buy equipment than going around to find random equipment being sold cheaply."

"I see. Thank you so much for your advice. I really appreciate it," Vivian said and then left.

"Thank you, Honored Priestess! And please come again!" the man said and bowed.

At the Adventurer's Guild.

Vivian stepped inside the main hall.

Before coming here, she dropped the pair of boots she had repaired at the compound where the members of the Temple of Priests live. So when she got there, it was already lunch break and there weren't that many people.

Vivian ignored the people throwing a glance at her and she went straight to the counter where adventurers could ask questions about quests.

When Pana saw Vivian, she was surprised to see her wearing a Priest's attire -- the brown cloak over her body and the gold necklace with a gold necklace with a vertically stretched sun pendant.

"Oh, Vivian. I didn't see you this morning. How are you? Anything new happened to you?" asked Pana.

"Not much, just busy as usual."

"Oh, okay. So are you looking to take a quest?"

"Yes."

"Please give me a moment," Pana said before opening the logbook.

"The available quests for Copper Ranks today are…

"Pick up a package from this city and deliver it to someone in Dascha Village. Reward is 30 copper coins and the time limit is 7 days.

"Search for a missing Krii pet named Pipi. If not found, its whereabouts will suffice but must provide proof. Reward is 30 copper coins and the time limit is 30 days. This quest has been listed as a special quest by the guild so you can take another quest while also taking this quest.

"Search for a missing engagement ring. Last known location was at The Silver Wing Inn. Reward is 50 copper coins and time limit is 30 days. This quest has also been listed as a special quest by the guild.

"And lastly, gather 15 tails of the Bukaroo. Reward is 20 copper coins and time limit is 3 days."

"I'll take the Bukaroo quest," said Vivian.

"Okay, please wait for a moment," Pana said and left.

When she returned, she was holding the Quest Paper for the Bukaroo quest and gave it to Vivian.

"Thank you."

"Oh, I almost forgot. One of my coworkers told me that you were looking for someone to teach you how to read and write, and the person she recommended to you has agreed."

"Um… About that, please tell her I'm sorry because I already found a tutor."

"Oh okay."

"Yeah... Sorry about that," Vivian said as she scratched her head in embarrassment.

"No, it's fine," Pana said and waved her hands.

Vivian stepped in front of the Quest Processing counter and handed over the Quest Paper to the receptionist.

After reading the details of the paper, the woman put it down and looked at Vivian.

"The quest is a Copper Rank Quest. You are to gather 15 Bukaroo tails, the reward is 20 copper coins, and the time limit is 3 days. Do you accept this quest?"

"Yes."

"Please remember that once you accept this quest, the time limit will immediately start without any exceptions. And if you fail to deliver the items within the time limit, you won't receive any reward and it will be listed in your record that you failed the quest, leaving a bad mark on your record which will affect your promotion points. Do you still want to accept this quest?"

"Yes."

The receptionist picked up a pen and began writing in the logbook.

"Okay, you work alone, your name is Vivian, Copper I Rank and your Class is Thief or Priest…?"

Unlike last time, the receptionist was already familiar with Vivian so she was able to fill up the details right away and just had to say it aloud for the sake of proper procedure.

However, for her Class, well, she was wearing a Priest's attire so she couldn't help but ask.

"Um… yes, it's no longer Thief, it's Priest."

Although the receptionist could see that Vivian was wearing a Priest's attire, to hear Vivian confirm that she's now a Priest still surprised her.

"Priest…?"

"Yeah, I changed Class yesterday," Vivian said and waved the pendant of her necklace.

"Oh... Congratulations," the receptionist said and smiled before editing her entry. "Please touch the Memory Crystal."

"Thank you," Vivian said and then touched the crystal.

When Vivian finally left, the receptionists couldn't help but let out a sigh and shake their heads in pity for the 2 Silver Rank adventurers yesterday.

Once word got out that they threatened a person with a Priest Class, many adventurers wouldn't want to party with them.

After all, the people of the Temple of Priests are basically walking miracle doctors who can also revive people.

And between the 2 Silver Rank adventurers and Vivian the Copper Rank I adventurer and Priest, they know who they will side with, unless one or both of the 2 Silver Rank adventurers were Priests as well.
