Chapter 43 - Second Quest (2)

Two sunflower monsters were rushing towards Vivian.

Whaaack!

Whaaack!

The moment they stepped within her attack range, she immediately dispatched them with her whip before they could even cough out their gas attack.

She glanced at the 2 dead sunflower monsters before turning to her whip.

Level 1 is (??/20), right…?

I'm gonna need more to unlock [Whip Mastery] -- if such a thing exists…

And if exists, I'm gonna definitely going to get its Level 1 [Body Art Mastery] for the +2 to STR and AGI before the sun sets…

She resumed walking.

A few steps later, she noticed 2 Treebarks up ahead and she immediately got into a running position before setting off.

Vooom!

When she got about 10ft away from them, they turned to her direction and began charging.

Pah!

Thud.

She sent a flying kick to one of the monsters, causing it to crash to the ground and then slid a few feet away.

The monster wasn't dead and Vivian didn't finish it off. Instead, she turned to the other Treebark and dashed towards it.

The monster whipped one of its arms and missed because Vivian delivered some sort of a jumping roundhouse kick.

Pah!

Craaack!

Thud.

A cracking sound came from the monster's body when Vivian's kick landed on its body and sent it flying to the side before crashing to the ground.

Tch!

Vivian clicked her tongue.

I thought if I used the metal cover on my shoes to hit it I could break its body…

Vivian glanced at her back to check on the first Treebark that she hit.

It was already on its feet and charging toward her.

She ran and then leaped over it, landing from behind.

The monster was in the middle of turning around when Vivian dropped the whip and kitchen knife on her hands. She moved forward and grabbed the monster at the bottom and on top with her hands before lifting it above her head.

"FUCKING DIE ALREADY!"

BRAAAK!

She slammed the monster's body to the ground with all of her strength and it shattered into pieces.

She turned to the other Treebark.

It too was already up and was rushing towards her.

"I really hate this enemy…"

She let out a sigh before looking around if there were any stones.

She saw a few but they were too small.

She rushed forward, leaped over it and did the same thing with the first Treebark.

BRAAAK!

***

Vivian was walking when suddenly something came out jumping from the bushes.

Rawr!

She was able to evade by leaning back and saw that it was the usual fox.

Grrr!

The fox landed on the ground and then turned to her, growling and baring its sharp teeth.

Vivian made a quick glance at the two weapons on her hands.

Now how am I going to do this…?

The fox charged and then leaped at her with its mouth open, ready to bite and sink its teeth against Vivian's flesh.

Pah!

Craaack!

Arrrwww!

Thud.

Vivian roundhouse kicked the monster's jaw in mid-air, causing it to make a cracking sound upon impact and send the monster to also spin a few times in mid-air before landing on the ground.

The monster tried to get up but was currently dizzy and also in pain.

Vivian dropped the knife on her left hand and rushed to the monster.

Bam.

She raised her left boot and then stomped down on the monster's head. However, she didn't lift her boot up.

Arw!

Arw!

Arw!

Vivian tilted her head and stared at the fox whose head was pinned down to the ground under her boot and couldn't break away. It could only cry out in pain and scratch the air and ground.

"Wew!"

"Good thing you're still alive!"

"Now stay still."

With her left boot still pinning the fox's head down, she slowly crouched down.

ARRRWWW!

ARRRWWW!

The fox cried louder and struggled harder the lower Vivian got.

"How rude! I'm not that heavy!"

ARRRWWW!

Vivian slid her left hand around the fox's neck and gripped it tightly before moving her left boot away from its head and then lifting its body up in the air by the neck.

ARRRWWW!

ARRRWWW!

The fox continued to cry out and scratch Vivian.

"So noisy!"

Whaaack!

ARRRWWW!

She struck the fox's head with the whip on her right hand.

Whaaack!

ARRRWWW!

Whaaack!

Arrrwww…!

Whaaack!

Arw…!

Vivian stopped and examined the fox's face.

It was no longer struggling and it was taking fast and shallow breaths. There were 4 fresh large red lines across its face, its eyes were rolled back of its head and tears were flowing from its eyes.

"Heh~ You can cry?"

"I didn't know that."

Crack!

She squeezed her left hand and broke the fox's neck.

Thud.

She dropped the lifeless body to the ground and then pressed her left hand near her nose.

Sniff.

Sniff.

"Hmph!"

"As expected, it smells bad."

She turned around to search for her kitchen knife.

"Where was it again?"

When she found her knife, she picked it up and then resumed searching for enemies.

I wonder if there's rubbing alcohol here or some hand sanitizer…

I should really buy one in the future…

***

Beak!

Beak!

A Bukaroo bird was flying towards Vivian.

Whaaack!

Beeeaaak!

Thud.

She struck the bird away with her whip and then immediately rushed to where it landed.

Bam!

She delivered a stomp with left her boot.

After confirming that it was dead, she immediately extracted the tail and then resumed walking.

And just after a few steps, she saw a sunflower monster up ahead and immediately burst out running.

When she reached about 10ft away, the monster turned to her and charged.

Whaaack!

She whacked the monster with her whip.

Ding!

'Unlocked [Whip Mastery] - Level 1!'

A small smile appeared on Vivian's face as details of the new skill she acquired already entered her head.

She glanced at the whip on her hand.

"Nope."

"As much as I don't like this weapon, I still can't afford to destroy it."

She resumed walking.

Hmm…

Given that there's [Whip Mastery], I wonder if there's a sturdier whip like this…?

Like this size…

I also wonder if whips can kill…

She suddenly stopped walking.

"Wait...!"

"Shit…!"

"Right, now it makes sense…"

"The saleslady said it was made of mithril…"

"So does this mean the stronger I get, the stronger metal, steel or whatever it's called I need for my weapons…?"

She resumed walking once again.

Fucking hell…

But what about my armor…?

Beak!

Beak!

Tch!

She clicked her tongue before turning to the direction of where the sound was coming from and saw the Bukaroo.

As she was waiting for the bird to enter her attack range, a Treebark suddenly came out of the bushes.

Tch!

She rushed to the Treebark and activated a skill.

She sent out a sidekick using [Power Leg].

Pa-riiip!

The monster's shell didn't break. Instead, a size of about 1 and a half adult's head where her kick landed on its body was shredded into bits and pieces.

Vivian's eyes shined bright like saucers.

"FUCK!"

She then shifted her attention to the Bukaroo which was already close to her.

Whaaack!

Beeeaaak!

Thud.

She struck the bird away and immediately rushed to where it landed.

Bam!

She lifted her foot to confirm if it was dead.

Seeing that it wasn't moving, she turned and rushed to the corpse of the Treebark.

"Please let the heart still be intact…" she whispered under her breath like a prayer.

She knelt down.

"Please let the heart still be intact…"

She began examining the corpse.

"Oh God, please let the heart still be intact…"
