Chapter 45 - 45/New Family

When Alice finally woke up from her strange dream, she paid no heed to the old man that was besides Sarah and Grimm.

Instead, she immediatly asked Killer:

"What the hell was that ?"

Killer took a few moments to answer:

"A rather strange dream. It wasn't me, by the way. It was... just a dream."

"You expect me to believe that ?"

Killer stayed silent.

Alice didn't pursue the issue any further. Getting angry at Killer wouldn't change anything. No... even worse. It would make things worse.

So instead, she looked at the old man.

There was something about this guy that made Alice uneasy. He wasn't a soul seller like Grimm, yet he seemed just as dangerous.

If not more.

"Do you speak english ?" asked Alice to the old man.

She sadly got an answer that wasn't in a language she was able to understand.

Nobody in the village knew english, probably.

This... was a problem.

Alice was on a timer. If given enough time, the living curse made by Isa could take over her body. Unless Shapeshifter lied, this would only take a couple a months. In these months, Alice had to find a cure, or she would become like Brandon.

And, needless to say, she did not want that.

To avoid this tragic fate, Alice had to find the Temple of Light, which was probably full of kind people ready to help her since she was their brand new Lightbringer.

And to reach the Temple of Light, she had to leave this Room as soon as possible. And, with the help of these people, that should be easy.

But how to ask help from people that didn't speak your language ?

Alice's thoughts stopped when the old man suddenly got very close, inspecting her face.

That's when Alice realized.

Her blood wasn't red anymore. The scar was one thing, but this was another.

If these people created some sort of legends about a black-blooded monstruosity, they might freak out and try to kill her.

After inspecting her face from a short distance, the old man only said one word. Alice immediatly knew it was is name.

"Eloy."

"Alice"

The Lightbringer was aware of the fact that the old man probably knew her name from Sarah already, but she said it anyway.

Then, Eloy, Grimm and Sarah spoke to each other. Alice was unable to understand what any of them said, obviously.

"You should use the Sixth Sense to traduct what they are saying." proposed Killer.

"That wouldn't work."

"You can try, at least. That's the good thing about Name: these things are gifts, and there is no downside if you use them all the time, unlike with soul selling."

"I don't care. Even if it worked, I wouldn't want you to know what they are talking about."

Killer stayed silent for a while.

"I don't understand."

"Let me put it simply, then. I don't trust you."

Alice recieved no answer.

But suddenly, Eloy made a hand sign to her. It took a bit of time for the young Lightbringer to understand what that old man wanted, but it seemed it was just for Alice to get up.

She did.

And then, it seemed he wanted her to go outside Grimm's hut.

Alice hesitated. When he was healing her, Grimm took away her dagger from her, so she currently had nothing to defend herself... besides her Name, Killer, the curse and soul selling, but still.

In the end though, compliying with Eloy's wish as long as these wishes weren't dangerous for her was the good choice.

Eloy reminded Alice of her older half-brother, in a way. He reminded her of Will, because she felt like messing with him could end up really badly.

So... she followed the old man.

Sarah was there, too.

Her, Eloy and Alice ended up in what was probably the center of the village.

Slowly, a bunch of people gathered here. And then even more people. Soon, almost all of the village's population was there.

Alice really begun to fear what was going to happens next. In the event that Eloy wanted to sacrifice her to please the gods or something, fleeing was anything but possible with all of those people around.

Eloy requested for everyone to be silent, and then, made a long speech.

Alice would have done a lot of things to know what this speech was about, but from her point of view, it sounded like a bunch of random sounds that made no sense.

The only words she understood were "Eloy", "Alice", and "Sarah". The Lightbringer thought that these three names were said a lot more than she expected, but other than that...

After this speech, the numerous people of the village applauded. It was at this moment that Alice begun to realize how respected Eloy was. This guy... he might be the one leading this whole thing.

After that, a lot of people came to meet her, but, as you probably guessed, none of them talked the same language as the one-eyed Lightbringer. She could looks at them, however, but that was not that useful.

At this point, Alice was so lost she was ready to comply to whatever Eloy wanted, as long as what he wanted wasn't to hurt her.

Which it could be. Alice learned one thing from her time on Earth: to trust no one. All humans beings were selfish by nature. Hell, she was selfish too !

It looked like Eloy wanted her to follow him again... so Alice followed.

And, weirdly enough, Sarah was still around.

At some point, they arrived in front of an imposing house, bigger than any of the other scattered around it.

Alice immediatly understood that this was Eloy's house.

Why was he leading her here ? Perhaps she was is next meal ?

Alice had really grim ideas, when she could nothing but guess what was going to happens to her.

Eloy opened the wooden door, and Alice walked in.

And then... Eloy hugged her.

It was so sudden Alice was unable to react. Was that guy going to squeeze her to death ?

No.

Because that hug... it wasn't a violent gesture.

It was a statement.

A statement so clear even Alice understood it:

"We're familiy now."
