Zuri sucked in her breath as she turned around. His scent had already warped her nose and her heart raced as if it had seen the person behind her before her eyes did. Her hands were still in the air as she had been dusting off a painting that was behind his chair.
"Zuri…" Jaden muttered with a soft voice. His stomach felt like it had sunk. He wasn't expecting to see her in his office but once he turned the keys, he knew she was inside. He didn't know if he should be happy or sad. What Stephan told him in the carriage while they traveled back made his heart squeeze. If that was what Zuri had heard about him then Jaden didn't know where to start from in his explanation to her.
It was as if his heart had taken the position of his stomach because that was where he was feeling his racing heart,
"Zuri?" he called again as he remained standing at the door post.
