Eliza returned to her house and stormed into her chambers with stomping feet and growls escaping her mouth. She was beyond upset and no one dared speak to her when she was in this state – not even her father who had seen her walk past the general room and watched her climb the flight of stairs.
Eliza entered her room and banged the door behind her, almost slamming the maid who had run after her in the face. She gathered up her skirt in her hand and paced violently, from one end to the other. She racked her brain and chewed heavily on her bottom lip, almost drawing out blood. But the anger and rage within her didn't allow her to feel the pain she was causing herself.
