"I'm going to start the journey tomorrow," Adelaide blurted. In response, Honora furrowed her eyebrows, and Leoric's eyes widened.
"There is no need to rush." Honora attempted to convince Adelaide, but it was all for nought. She already knew she was part of the League of Destiny, so why wait for her destiny?
"Will that be enough time for us to pack the essentials?" Leoric questioned. Adelaide turned to face her little brother.
"You're not prepared to face him," Adelaide stated. On second thought, that might sound a bit harsh.
"Nonsense. Did you forget he's part of the league, too?" Honora intervened, raising an eyebrow. How could Adelaide forget?
"As much as I would love to fight with you, we don't have time for that. We're moving tomorrow, right? So I'll be in my room," Leoric informed, bolting to his room.
"Mother, this isn't a joke! Leoric could seriously get hurt!" Adelaide exclaimed, frantic. She glanced at the clock to see that it was twelve in the night.
"You're forcing me to be strict, Adelaide. I don't wish to repeat myself, but he has just as many capabilities as you do," Honora reprimanded, firm.
"Fine, then. Does that mean I have to tell Filippa and Dustin?" Adelaide inquired. If she did, that was going to be a whole new level of trouble.
"Yes, or else, you won't be going anywhere tomorrow," Honora said. Adelaide had an urge to throw a temper-tantrum but thought better of it.
Adelaide simply vanished and appeared at her friend's room. She felt extremely terrible that she was interrupting her friend's sleep but convinced herself that it was necessary.
"I-" Adelaide started before feeling as if she had lost her voice. She stood still, completely frozen like an ice sculpture.
"Adelaide, would you mind explaining why you're here in the middle of the night?" Filippa's voice rung out.
"I'm going to carry out my plan tomorrow," Adelaide informed, voice shaky. She didn't want to start a fight with her friend, but it seemed inevitable at this point.
"Of course, though I wish you could have told me earlier. I'll pack my bag now," Filippa told, standing up and shuffling through her closet.
"You're really coming?" Adelaide gaped. She never expected Filippa to accept so easily. It made her feel all queasy just thinking about what could happen if they got caught.
"Yes, it's our destiny after all," Filippa said, and Adelaide could imagine a smile on Filippa's face. She felt so happy at that moment.
"Did no one ever tell you two to be quiet when others are sleeping?" Shit. It was Dustin, Filippa's little brother.
"I'm busy packing my stuff, Dustin. Shut up," Filippa grumbled. Adelaide could feel Dustin shooting both of them some looks, even through the dark.
"Why?" Dustin pressed. Sure, Leoric and Filippa agreed, but that didn't mean that Dustin would. After all, it was never mentioned in the prophecy that defeating a king was their destiny.
"To defeat the monarch," Adelaide whispered as if someone was eavesdropping on their conversation.
"Cool. I'll tag along," Dustin told, vanishing, presumably to his room. Was today Adelaide's lucky day or something?
"Filippa, why is everyone being so cooperative today?" Adelaide inquired. She was thankful that they were, but it felt a bit weird.
"I don't know, but I still have to tell my parents that we're leaving with you," Filippa said. What I they didn't agree with letting them go?
"All right, but hurry. We're leaving at the crack of dawn," Adelaie informed, to which Filippa nodded. She opened the door and left.
"Getting some shut-eye would be good," Adelaide muttered, falling onto Filippa's bed before eventually dozing off.
Adelaide woke up to Filippa shaking her.
"They agreed!" Filippa exclaimed, a proud smile on her features.
