Chapter 11 - Average day in my new high school

"Heyyy! Shu!!" I called out for my current new best friend, we aren't that close but he's the only person with who I could get along and call a genuine friend.

We don't live very far apart so we decided to go to school together, but the longer we walked together the more frustrated we became.

"Look at all the couples going to school together, don't they have any shame?" Shu asked while making a very serious face at every passing couple as if they committed a grave sin.

"Bahahahah! Shut up shu. You know damn well you're just jealous."

"I have every right to be sad! They're out here enjoying their youth while I'm stuck walking up to school with another dude!" He said while looking down and faking a tear.

"Yeah you're right, maybe that's a sign that you'll end up single your whole life?"

"Just cause you're a bit good looking doesn't give you the right to tell me the truth so harshly!"

"Bahahahaha!"

In our short time spent together shu rapidly became my best friend, since raku was busy with his romance shu was kinda cast aside so we spent most of our time together.

One of my favorite things about him was that we really did understand each other and had a similar sense of humor.

Unlike most people I've met he seems to be the only one who's able to read situations as nicely as I do, raku, chitoge and onodera are just plain stupid, hanging out with them is nice but I'm afraid to lose brain cells.

------

"Hey guys what's going on?" Once we got to class we noticed a few guys gossiping so we went to join in.

"You haven't heard? Raku and Chitoge were seen on a date last Saturday!" One of our classmates said.

"Yeah that lucky bastard! I've seen them with my own eyes."

"Whatttt?? Raku found a girlfriend before me?" Shu looked at me with a devastated look, I almost felt bad for him, but I knew that he was just acting as usual.

"Poor baby, I'm sure you'll get through this horrible betrayal." I tapped his back to comfort him but my mocking tone said otherwise.

Suddenly the door of the class opened up and all the eyes were directed towards the two people who walked in.

"Congratulations to you two!"

"We wish you eternal happiness!" One of the girls said.

The whole class seemed to be already aware of the fact that those two were dating.

"What the hell are you guys talking about!?" Raku seemed genuinely surprised.

"Don't play dumb Raku! Two days ago Itano and jougasaki saw you two on a date in town!"

Both Raku and Chitoge's faces distorted in fear at Shu's words.

"To think you would find a girlfriend before me!"

"Chitoge! Why are you dating such an unattractive guy!"

"What? You two are dating? How nice to be young."

The other guys' words made them fall even deeper in despair, even the teacher joined in on the fun.

Right as Raku was about to deny it and explain the misunderstanding he saw a certain someone stalking them from the top of a tree, it was none other than claude, one of the leaders of the Bee Hive gang and someone who cared about chitoge deeply.

When they noticed him watching them they had to choice but to actually keep the act going.

Watching them hug and call each other darling was hilarious, while shu was feigning being hurt by seeing his best friend being stolen I was barely holding on to my life trying to not burst out laughing.

Knowing the truth made me have a totally different view on the current situation, tho I did feel bad for the poor Kosaki who had to watch all that happen in front of her eyes.

I think shu is the only one who actually understood that it was all an act, to be fair their acting was horribly bad. I still can't understand how nobody else saw through it.

After that the day went by pretty normally, I spent most of my day just having fun teasing our new couple along with shu.

Though today a special event occurred, I received a quest. A very special quest, for the first time it was a quest which wasn't related to any of the protagonist.

"Amon, ever since you have arrived to this high school I've never stopped looking at you, your intelligence is something I admire and I love how you always keep your calm no matter the situation, so please come behind the school after class, I want to officially ask you out."

That was the letter I found in my locker earlier

[Side quest:

A first confession: (difficulty F)

Description:

You have successful received your first high school confession, answer her feelings honestly to receive the reward.

Reward:

Will depend on your level of honesty.]

"Are you going to meet her?" Kosaki who was next to me when I received the letter seemed pretty curious as to how I was gonna handled it.

"Yes I'll be going."

"Do you even know who it might be?"

"No I don't, but I don't really care, I need to go."

She looked at me in awe as to how I was so determined to answer that girl's feeling. Though to me what really made me go was none other than the reward. If not for the reward I wouldn't of bothered myself with those things.

The class ended pretty peacefully and I excitedly went to the back of the high school, unknowingly to me both Kosaki and Ruri followed me and have been carefully lurking around.

In front of me was an average looking girl with short black hair and a pretty average height, she obviously seemed very stressed and shy.

"Hey are you the one who sent me the letter?" I was planning to get it over with as soon as possible.

"Yes, Amon, I think I'm in love with you, I can't think of anyone other than you" she looked up at me shyly and added

"I- I love you!"

After a bit of an awkward silence, I thought of what was the most honest answer I could give, and so I did.

"I'm sorry but I don't feel the same way about you." I could clearly see her face get frozen as she looked down, clearly hurt by my answer.

"What does that mean?" She asked, curious about why I would say that.

"I simply don't love you, I have never met you before so I don't know you so I have no interest in you." I could see her on the verge of crying.

Making girls cry wasn't really one of my hobbies I didn't plan on making it any longer since the quest was already successful so I turned around and simply left, leaving that poor girl on the verge of crying as well as 2 other lurking girls who were in shock at how cold I was with her.

The way back was pretty peaceful if we don't count the few Yakuza I met on the way, they really make no efforts to hide their identity.

Maybe it's because I know that there are tensions between the mafia and yakuza but I feel like it's way too easy to spot them, though I chose to simply ignore it and keep walking home.

Once back home I cooked myself dinner and laid down on my sofa and checked the notification I've been ignoring.

[Congratulations for completing the side quest "a first confession"!]

[Would you wish to receive your reward?]

[Yes] [no]
