The next day, Ferrum walked towards the largest building in the village where a man engulfed in heavy armor was waiting outside.
"Hey! Over here!" The man called out and Ferrum approached him.
"You must Gerald. I would like to thank you for carrying me here that day."
"Ah no worries. By the way, those clothes look good on you. I reckon Cerana made you spend hours in that favorite clothing shop of hers?"
Ferrum wore a white dress shirt with the first two buttons unbuttoned under a black vest with a silver sword belt, gray trousers with a black belt and armored boots.
"Y-yeah… it took a little convincing for her to let me choose what I wanted to wear. This is what we compromised."
"And your debt to Lady Yoshida?"
Ferrum scratched his head before counting with his fingers.
"Uhh, 55,000 Herals."
Gerald nodded his head and turned around. His eyes wider than the ocean.
"Anyway, let's hurry and get you licensed."
As the two entered the building, Ferrum asked a few questions.
"So what is this place?"
"This is the Guildhall. Though not very… hally."
Ferrum raised a brow at the last word. Gerald chuckled and cleared his throat.
"Anyway, this building belongs to the Ironcrest Guild, one of many and the highest ranking guilds in the world of Herusel. I reckon your village didn't partner with a guild because you lived on top of a mountain."
"Used to live."
"Ah, right…"
Gerald awkwardly scratched his head before walking towards a receptionist.
"Hey, Gerald! What can I do for you today?" The female receptionist asked, her long pointy ears twitching in excitement.
'An elf, huh?'
"Eletha! I want you to help me get this man an adventurer license."
"Oh? A newbie? He's quite handsome."
"Handsome yeah, but it's obvious who's the handsome one here."
"Yeah yeah!"
Eletha walked to the back and a few seconds later she placed a sheet and pen on the desk.
"Here you go! The contract is stupidly complicated and I would like to help you, but I have some unfinished work to do."
"That's alright. It's normal for people to have a lot of things on their hands." Ferrum said, noticing the stack of paperwork behind her.
"Gerald, would you mind helping him?" She smiled brightly. Gerald blushed and scratched the back of his head.
"Sure. It's no big deal!"
"Thank you~! I'll be sure to pay you back later."
Ferrum watched as Gerald and Eletha flirted and decided to go ahead and fill out the sheet himself.
After reading the contract, he filled out the necessary information and then he got stuck at one point.
"Do you have any problems, Ferrum?"
"Yeah. It's asking me whether or not I am a Mythic." Ferrum turned and pointed at the line, Gerald taking a closer look.
"Well are you a Mythic?"
That's when Ferrum felt another sharp pain in his chest. He groaned, falling out of his seat. Gerald rushed to help him up
"Whoa! Ferrum, are you well?" Gerald held Ferrum, supporting him.
Memories flashed through Ferrum's mind and he began to remember. Everything.
"I…"
He remembered fighting the two Mythics, firing light at them relentlessly while destroying the village he called home in the process.
"I… destroyed my village." He muttered.
"Say what?"
"I-Is there some kind of medicine that can help with chest pain?"
"Well, our local apothecary does have medicine for most pain. I'm sure she has what you are looking for."
"Great, can we go there after this?"
"Sure. Whenever you're done that is."
Ferrum composured and fixed himself. He eventually filled out the rest of the paper. Signing first before answering the question whether he was a Mythic or not.
He wrote yes.
Upon completing the paper, he received what was an Adventurer's License. It had his name, his age, his rank, and a weird symbol.
"What's this symbol?" Ferrum asked. Gerald took a quick look at his license.
"That's the guild emblem." He responded.
"No, I meant this symbol." Ferrum said, pointing not to the emblem that was the background of his license, but the symbol that had a different texture than the other parts of his license.
"Oh, that symbolizes that you are a Mythic. My Lady is also a Mythic, though she has a different rank than you. I think she is the only adventurer in our village to be a 1st Class. If only-"
While Gerald continued to talk, Ferrum was surprised at the fact Mairi was a Mythic.
"So she's a Mythic?" Ferrum asked, interrupting Gerald.
"Yes! She is in fact a Legendary Type Mythic!"
"Really? Whose her myth?"
Gerald looked left and right before whispering into Ferrum's ear.
"Rashakane."
Ferrum stared at Gerald blankly. Gerald didn't understand why he was staring at him like that.
"Who?" Ferrum asked, causing Gerald's jaw to drop.
"You don't know who she is?"
"No. The only Legends I know are of the Great Ones of the past."
"The ones of the old war?"
Ferrum nodded.
"I see, well then, you are quite far behind. There are more than just the Great Ones. I guess some Myth's Legend is only gossip in small towns or countries. Guess not everyone in the Herusel will know a Legend born on another continent. By the way, what is your Myth?"
Ferrum's mind blanked out before he had visions of the dragon he kept seeing.
"I don't know. It's a dragon of some sort but it's name I do not know."
"A dragon, huh? That's pretty common these days. It's normal for Mythics to not know the name of their Myth. Eventually it'll come to you."
The two made a visit to the apothecary and Ferrum asked for the medicine he needed for his chest pain. The apothecary went and searched for any and eventually came out with some.
"Take these once every two days. These won't get rid of the pain, only suppress it. If you feel like the medicine has no effect, take two. When you need refills, just come back."
Ferrum thanked the apothecary and the two eventually walked to a tavern where Cerana was waiting outside.
"Gerald."
"Cerana! Is Eranheart and Lady Yoshida inside?"
"Eranheart is. Lady Yoshida is running late. Says she had a lot of paperwork to take care of."
"Well can't blame her. It's not easy taking the position of temporary Village Chief. Soon she'll be even busier if she decides to take her father's place."
Daryl, who was Village Chief, has been taking care of business outside the village. In the meantime he has assigned his daughter, Mairi, to take over as the Village Chief while he is gone. It was only recently that she was made temporary Village Chief.
"Let's go inside, the sun is soon to set. We are going to be doing a night hunt today so we should preserve our energy." Cerana explained, opening the tavern door.
"Right! I am starving."
The group ordered some food and Ferrum, who had not eaten food outside his village, attempted to familiarize himself with the food in the tavern. To his surprise, the food tasted better than he expected. Thanks to the curry he ate, he had set a bar to how the food would taste and they all met that quota.
An hour later, Mairi entered the tavern. At this time, the tavern would be quiet though there would be a few lingering adventurers around.
"Ferrum! It's been two days. How are you holding up? You look great by the way." Mairi approached the group, sitting across Ferrum.
"Thanks! It's been going alright, uhh…"
"You can just call me Mairi. I don't mind formalities."
"Does that mean we can-?" Eranheart began and Mairi stared at him.
"Ehh… never mind."
Meanwhile, Cerana and Gerald were staring at a board before tearing a paper off the board.
"Lady Yoshida, what do you think of this?"
Cerana handed Maira the paper. There was a sketch of a horse with a long mane.
"A-rank!? For a 3rd Generation beast!? Whoever ranked the Deathfire Stallion has clearly never fought one!"
"So I reckon you've fought one before, Eranheart?" Mairi asked and Eranheart turned away.
"M-maybe."
"Then I expect you to fully be able to take it down by yourself."
Eranheart quickly stood up, his eyes widened.
"W-wait! We're gonna do this one!? If you didn't know my Lady, Ferrum here is only an Adventurer 5th Class, he just got his license and you want him to tag along!?"
"What better lesson is there than the hard one? Yes, this beast is an A-rank, though it rests on the border between A-rank and S-rank. Either way, I see no problem in taking this. You are an Adventurer 3rd Class now, right? You are more than capable of handling it. You will set an example for Ferrum here. Isn't that right?"
Eranheart tried to come up with something but he could only let out grunts. He eventually slumped over and sighed.
"Yes my Lady."
"Great! Cerana, please register us to this hunt will you?" Mairi said, handing Cerana her license.
Everyone else handed their license to Cerana. Before Ferrum handed his to Cerana, Mairi asked to take a look at it. When she noticed the Mythic symbol on his card, she asked what kind of Mythic he was to which the latter gave the same answer he gave to Gerald.
Mairi pondered for a bit before letting it go. Ferrum gave his license to Cerana and she went to the counter.
After a bit, they were all handed their license back and left the tavern.
"So where do we go?" Eranheart asked and Cerana glanced at the paper once more.
"To the crystal caves."
