The robotic emotionless voice of the system once again creeped Sam out, he even suspected that he wouldn't get used to it soon; it was simply inhuman and terrifying.
" Your situation is quite a troublesome one, host; you are in a dangerous continent that treats dragons as pets and mere lizards that are only worth being employed as mounts; I'll advise you to gather arrogant points as fast as possible and use them to get stronger."
The system paused for a moment giving its host time to digest the information and waiting for him to give him the okay to continue as it went deathly silent.
Sam had heard these words before a few times; therefore, he quickly asked the system to proceed with the most important answer he wanted to hear.
He soon heard his answer, which honestly made him open his mouth agape, failing to understand what he just heard for a second.
" Host, you don't have to be worried about my origins; long story short, the emperor of this world is a bit stronger than the usual ones, so to avoid his senses, I refrained from getting attached to your soul after your death, simply choosing to take another route and meet you after his eyes weren't set on you."
Sam quickly wanted the system to elaborate on what he had just said, but the answer was quite disappointing, and he even kind of expected it.
" You will need to upgrade the system if you wish to get more information about anything related to my existence."
After digesting both of the things he was wary of, he leisurely moved deep inside his cave and lay down on the cold stone floor to familiarize himself with the system.
"Hey, system, come up"
He ordered in his mind as the interface popped up before him. He could see the tabs such as host, shop, storage, subordinates, and upgrade.
Sam looked at the entrance of the cave just in case someone or anything was making his way towards his peak, but weirdly, and given his dragon eyes that could see way beyond human capabilities and his new cultivation base, he noticed that everything seemed paused, from the birds to the droplets of water coming out of the spiky stones of the cave's ceiling.
"While you access the system, the time will be momentarily slowed down until the host quits the system "
"Wow, this is indeed a good feature; seems like my cheat isn't something to be trifled with."
His brows raised in surprise, hearing the robotic voice.
"Open the host tab"
The system opened the host tab, and like in role-playing games, his naked body appeared before him, along with his stats.
But given the fact that he was a dragon which didn't require any clothes and his genderless being, it looked identical to himself in real life.

His memories, except for his teenage days, were quite blurry, and he honestly didn't wanna waste a few minutes going through them to know what that meant; accordingly, he chose to directly ask in his mind.
" The host back in his day was called Shadow by everyone in his world; you were an expert in assassination and stealth that only accepted jobs involving rulers of the world. As a matter of fact, you only took a job each year just cause the people you always target were out of anyone's reach."
Following the explanation the system gave him, his head burst with a sudden pain like countless needles getting stabbed on top of it, but the hellish feeling quickly vanished, and he instantly noticed that all the memories about his assassin life weren't blurry anymore.
" Given how dangerous this world is, I gave you back those important memories for your survival."
Sam nodded, thankful inside.
Even though he didn't know if the system was a sentient being or not, he still felt like he should be nice to the ally that's gonna accompany him throughout his whole journey.
"Let's see what's in the storage"
The storage tab opened to reveal a couple of items lying before him, and when he concentrated, the details and attributes of the items appeared above them.
The first item in his storage was a couple of pitch-black claws that could be attached to his own; the moment he thought about them, they appeared in front of him.
" Very sharp and will add longer range to my close attacks."
He controlled mana to place both of the black claws on top of his own and commented.

On second thought, Sam chuckled as he honestly found it quite easy to fulfill such a condition as a dragon; he just needed to learn how this world works and which methods would get him money as fast as possible.
Sam ignored the healing potion he received since this was something every main character obtained on their gift bag, so he moved to the next item, which was a red gift box.
"Does the host want to open the box?"
" Dahh, open it."
With a flash of light, the box opened, and a tattoo appeared.
