Kingdom of Amira
Adeline's POV
Prince Kael ignored me throughout the trip to Amira. It was obvious he was upset with me. There was nothing I could do to make him speak to me until he calmed down.
I led him to his room, bowed, and left the room. Amos waiting for me behind his door.
Amos
(Smiling)
"Are you two on heads again?"
"What do you mean by again? We hardly argue with each other and this time he needed to be scolded."
Amos
(Serious)
"Is it because he defended you, come on Adeline, hardly do royals defend their knights or people closest to them. But he did it for you, can't you just be happy about that"
I sighed. I knew to them it may seem like a favor from the prince but he placed himself in danger.
"I know and I am grateful but what he did was reckless. Threatening a new king who wasn't known until now just for his knight sounds naive and childish"
Amos
(Laugh)
"Well if you say something like that, it's probably true"
I shook my head at how Amos reacted to my decisions.
"It's not probably. It's true and if the is anything I can't stand, is him being in danger and I won't allow anyone to hurt him." I fiercely said.
Believing he would take the bait, he rather laughed it off and dropped his heavy hand on my shoulders.
Amos
(Teased)
"You need to stop being serious all the time Adeline. It's probably the reason you are still not married"
I was startled and fluttered at the same time after hearing him say such a remark. Suddenly the prince's door opened.
Prince Kael
(Annoyed)
"Can you two take your conversation somewhere else I need to sleep remember"
Amos and I straightened up and bowed to his request. He slapped the door at us.
Amos
"Is he still upset and I think this time at me"
"Hahahaha" I laughed it off and squeezed his shoulder. "I guess so, hahaha"
I left him behind looking confused. I knew the reason he suddenly opened the door.
If there is anything I know about him, it's the fact that he hates the idea of me getting married. Which I find strange and childish at the same time.
A few days passed and I was called in by the King.
The Castle Hall….
The king was seated at his golden seat, with grey hair, and beard. He had aged since the last time I met him. I could see how sick he was and he didn't have time left.
There is a secret I keep to myself, and that is I can see through people's lies. I could also tell if one is stronger than me or not.
He looked so weak that he could collapse at any moment.
"Khoff,khoff!!
King Edmond
(Weakly)
"Sorry about that. Thai body of mind can't take it anymore"
"Sir you don't have to apologize for that"
He could hardly smile but forced a smile.
King Edmond
(Appreciate)
"You have always been loyal and faithful to this kingdom, especially to my son. I would like to officially thank you for being there for my son. If you weren't a knight, I would let him marry you."
I was startled by his remark and forced a smile. I may look young but there is a huge age gap between us.
Not that huge but I prefer to be tagged as his older sister.
King Edmond
(Serious)
"He is fortunate to have you by his side but a day would come when you will meet someone whom you would want to spend the rest of your life with. And when that happens he would need someone by his side."
He paused and waited for my unexpected response. Kings don't allow their subjects to speak up unless asked to.
I raised my head and replied "I believe in the presence of my king. And as long as I am alive, the prince will be my life as I will protect him with everything I have."
King Edmond
(Softly)
"I believe you but as I said, time isn't on our side. The gods had forsaken us long ago and now they do not gift us with long life and so I have decided to bring in the "ADVISOR"
"Advisor" I voiced out surprisedly.
King Edmond
"Yes. A day after your return, King Hector sent in a message, suggesting an advisor for my son. I was taken aback by his sudden suggestion but what he said next made me rethink.
I am weak, not strong enough to help him when the need comes and Amos is old now, you are the only one I can trust with this."
I sighed and it seemed I wasn't wrong about the new king, he moved quicker than I expected.
"King Edmond may ask? Did King Hector perhaps nominate someone to be the prince's advisor"
King Edmond
(Firmly)
"Yes. That is precisely why I called you"
"Huh"
King Edmond
"I need you to bring him. Fortunately, he
resides in our neighboring Kingdom.
"Eros," I said and he responded. Unfortunately for me, I wasn't favored in the kingdom. They still hold grudges against me for defeating their champion years ago.
Their hatred for me is something that can't be cut with the sharpest blade in all kingdoms. I wasn't pleased with his order but I couldn't refute my king.
King Edmond
(Commanded)
"You must go alone. I do kit want anyone suspecting us, especially my family. Do you understand?"
I felt something fishy about everything we had discussed. It was obvious the king was manipulated into giving in.
I couldn't wake the feeling off, the feeling of a heavy storm hitting away soon.
"Pardon me, my King. Since I won't be by the prince's side, I hope you permit me to say goodbye to the prince before I leave.
King Edmond
"Yes"
"That will be all my King," I said and took my leave.
Things went smoothly without any suspicious acts or strangers. After talking to the prince who argued with me throughout the conversation.
"Yaaah" on my horse leaving the kingdom.
