[Living room]
Gwen [My universe], Helen and I sat on the sofa in the living room. Before us were the two newcomers. One is a Gwen from another Earth and the other one is Cindy Moon. Although I haven't yet met the Cindy of my Earth, I have read about her in the comics.
Right now, there is an awkward silence surrounding us after our little introductions. Well, the situation was a bit unexpected. I glanced at Gwen from my universe, who was looking at her alternate self with a mix of surprise and curiosity. Helen, on the other hand, seemed more composed, given the situation that they caught us with our pants down on the bad having a threesome.
Gwen [My Universe] broke the silence with an awkward grin, "Well, this is an interesting turn of events. Didn't expect to find a duplicate of myself and your friend dropping in our bedroom..."
"Sorry about that... We didn't mean to do that," Gwen [Other universe] scratched the back of her head awkwardly.
"So, you from another reality, huh?" I looked over the Gwen in front of us, "You are not an alien clone or anything are you?"
"Yeah, we are from another reality, tracking down a criminal. But our portal device malfunctioned and all we could do was to lock on to this Earth's Gwen to prevent getting lost into the multiverse," Cindy Moon responded. "But well... We arrived at a bad time."
"Well, consider yourselves lucky you found us here because if you had appeared some other place, the Illuminati agents would have captured you," I raised a finger as a matter of fact, "And probably would have purged you or worse, locked you two up in one of those freaking cells for your life."
"We have heard about the infamous Illuminati and their shady records, but they aren't our main problem right now," Cindy said as she stood up and placed her hands on her side, her slender, athletic, and smooth legs flexed in the action, causing my eyes to dart right at it. "We need to stop him fast before...-"
"-Stop who?" the Gwen from my world suddenly interrupted.
"You have already met him," Gwen [Other uni] replied, "The man who took your spider power... or spider gene in a scientifically accurate term..."
"Huh?!" Helen looked stunned for a moment.
Ah! She doesn't know that Gwen is actually Ghost Spider. We were planning on revealing the truth to her, but then she lost her power and we never got the time to reveal her the truth.
"I am Ghost Spider or used to be..." Gwen [my uni] filled her in with the details.
"Wait! You are Ghost Spider?" Helen narrowed her eyebrows. "So, that wasn't your cosplay costume?"
"Sorry, I did not get the chance... Besides, after dad's death, I wanted to tell you, but I didn't want to worry you since you know... My job sometimes gets dangerous and all..." Gwen said apologetically.
Helen smiled back at her with a sincere look and asked, "It's alright, I get it. You did the right thing keeping quiet, knowing I would get worried sick. But that doesn't mean that I am not worrying now!"
"Sorry..." Gwen bit her lip. "This isn't what we intended at all."
"Oh, that's the life. We don't intend stuff all the time, and we can't do a damn thing about it," I shrugged.
Helen turned toward the other Gwen, "Does your parents know about your secret identity?"
"I was never an official superhero in my world. I am more like a friendly neighborhood Spider-girl," Gwen [Other uni] shook her head. "Yeah, my dad knows..." Her eyes look kinda watery and her voice crackled as she cleared her throat.
"Your mom?" Helen followed up.
"Passed away." She gulped back some rising emotion and turned her gaze upward. "After giving me birth... I... I never thought I get to meet you, even though you aren't my real mom. But I am glad..."
Helen moved closer to Gwen from the other universe, wrapping her arms around her in a comforting embrace. "I'm sorry to hear about your mom. Losing a parent is never easy, no matter the circumstances. But you're not alone now. You will always have people who support and believe you, who are by your side whenever you are in need."
Gwen [other uni] closed her eyes shut, letting the tears trickle down, accepting the motherly hug and whispered back, "Thanks... Mom."
"We can have the emotional conversation later. Right now we need to stop him before he steals someone else's power. The balance of reality is at stake," Cindy interrupted, bringing the topic back.
I glanced up at Cindy's eyes and asked her, "Who is he?"
"Reed Richards. We call him the Maker..." She said.
Fuck! The Maker! This Earth's version of Reed is the freaking Maker... Damn! No wonder he wasn't there when Galactus arrived and left Earth that night. Someone must have found out his real identity back then which forced him to go into hiding.
This is more dangerous than I thought. Although I have become a cosmic entity, dealing with that fucker will be a bit troublesome, especially when I stole Sue from him.
Cindy continued, "The Maker is Reed Richards from this reality. He went down a dark path. Instead of using his genius for the betterment of mankind, he became obsessed with power and control. He's been traveling across dimensions, stealing the abilities of other superpowered individuals to enhance his own and killing the other version of himself. His ultimate goal is to reshape reality according to his own vision."
Gwen [Other uni] added, "He's been using advanced technology to manipulate the fabric of the multiverse and eventually ended up in the Spider Society. After that, he has been trying to destroy everyone connected with it... We tracked him here, but as I mentioned earlier, our portal malfunctioned, and we ended up in the middle of... well, your intimate moment."
And as I thought... The freaking Spiderverse...
"What's Spider Society?" Gwen [My uni] asked with a curious expression.
Gwen [Other uni] sighed before responding, "The Spider Society is a group of individuals across different realities who possess spider-based powers. It's kind of like a support group for those who've been bitten by radioactive spiders or somehow acquired spider abilities. We share information, help each other out, and try to maintain the balance of the multiverse."
"That sounds awesome," Gwen [My uni] sat there intrigued, "How come I never heard of it? I mean, she knows..." She pointed at her other version.
"That's on Miguel. He is our leader and he chooses who's allowed to enter the society," Cindy shook her head. "Normally, we only allow members who had received spider-related powers naturally or without any kind of outside manipulation. But he didn't want to attract the Illuminati's attention. So, we stayed away from this timeline."
Make sense. Can't blame them...
"And how exactly were you planning to capture the man who probably has the greatest mind in this universe if not in the entire fucking multiverse? I assume he is pretty much prepared for everything," I said as I recalled a few scenes from the comics and movies. The man even depowered Silver Surfer for days with just his little techs, "There is no way the two of you can face him with just two of you, and it's highly unlikely for you two to have caught him off guard either."
"Our job is to track him down and alert Miguel," Gwen [Other uni] gave a short response, "And even if he has the greatest mind, our Spider Society still consists of many of the brightest minds from across the multiverse. Besides, Miguel always has a plan. We have our fair share of fight against the Makers, and we know what to expect..."
"Well then," I stood up, "Let's go and find some information."
"Where are we going?" Cindy asked.
"The Illuminati headquarters," I replied, "They will know where to find him."
"You nuts? Didn't you just say they will capture us?" She raised an eyebrow.
"Yeah, if you were alone that is," I smirked, "But not with me."
