Chereads / Spider-Verse: Another Spider-Man / Chapter 186 - Chapter 186

Chapter 186 - Chapter 186

Mark, who has been secretly manipulated by the Weaver, is completely oblivious to this scheme at the moment.

At this time, he's celebrating a small victory with his comrades, gathered in the universe that belongs to him.

Joining them are not only the original Spider-Gwen, Spider-Man Noir, and Spider-Man from the circus already present here but also Toby Spider-Man, Andrew Spider-Man, Spider-Tom, and Electro summoned from the movie dimension. The latter were specifically brought by Mark to enhance their chances in the final battle.

Unfortunately, Doctor Strange didn't come to aid.

He mentioned that if the battle occurred in his world, he'd surely help, but since it's in another universe, he couldn't intervene.

Mark, after careful consideration, understood.

Doctor Strange still had to manage the dark dimensions in his own world.

Even though he's no longer the Sorcerer Supreme, relying solely on Wong was a bit concerning.

Whether he had other concerns, Mark couldn't ascertain.

But he didn't mind.

After all, with their current plot, the Inheritors had taken a significant hit.

Originally eight members, including Solus, four of them were directly eliminated.

Now, they mainly face Solus, Jennix, and Morlun.

Jennix isn't notably formidable, and Morlun, who fell under Mark's hands, had his strength evaluated by him.

With the collaboration of Spider-Gwen and others, they could easily triumph, maybe even take down Morlun.

The only trouble lies with Solus.

However, Mark already has some insight into Solus's power, despite not having a direct confrontation with him.

In reality, as his understanding of this universe inherited from the Beyonder deepens, he gains a clearer perception of the power hierarchy in the Marvel universe.

The power rankings he initially derived from various works were somewhat vague and lacked precision.

In fact, the real individual power difference peaks at the third level, known as the so-called "Godking" level.

The Godking level, also referred to as "God," signifies the outer-layer disparity between "Gods" and "Mortals" in terms of power.

However, the core difference lies in authority!

Authority combined with power constitutes true strength!

This implies that when power reaches a certain level, it can also possess Godking level strength. For example, the Hulk, who's claimed to crush everything in his path, lacks authority but through his unwavering raw power, attains the ability to destroy worlds, making even God-king level beings take notice.

Yet, even for the Hulk, there's no assurance of ascending to the level of destroying single universes, let alone multiple universes.. (AN: We're not considering his true power. This is just Mark's perspective. It doesn't have any effect to the plot at all.)

He remains just a God-king level.

This indicates the limit of physical strength!

So, if one seeks to elevate their power to the level of destroying single universe or multiple universes, what's the approach?

Since power is maximized, the only way is through another avenue.

That is authority!

For instance, Thor, wielder of Mjolnir, known as the God of Thunder, can manipulate weather and all elements related to storms, such as lightning, rain, snow, and more.

Expanding this authority leads to further ascension.

Thus, from God-king level upwards to single and multiple universe levels, the only difference is "authority"!

In essence, if one disregards authority or discovers methods to counter or diminish authority, they can overturn the odds and defeat their opponents!

This was Mark's greatest takeaway from his previous confrontation against the Inheritors single-handedly. According to the original works (the comics he read), these Inheritors possess incredibly potent abilities, capable of almost instantaneously overpowering any Spider-Man they face.

Several times, people were rescued by Otto Parker or other members of the Spider Corps because they were more interested in hunting and toying around.

Because of this, Mark had estimated their abilities quite high, even categorizing the relatively weaker Bora and Brix as belonging to the high levels.

However, in reality, the truth was significantly different from his estimations.

Bora and Brix's "power" likely only reached the Marvel Power Index level of "4," indicating a value of "beyond normal humans" a range most Spider-Men fall within!

Having faced them directly and slain them, Mark had a much deeper understanding of their power.

These twin siblings usually possess strength of around 20 tons, occasionally reaching up to 25 tons. Even among the remaining Inheritors, focusing solely on their "strength," they are merely "adequate."

Verna's prowess slightly surpasses the twin siblings, with an ability index of around "5," her strength ranging between 30 to 50 tons.

Jennix's and Mark's encounters have been limited, so there's less clarity about their abilities, but they're likely on par with Morlun.

Daemos stands out among the younger Inheritors, wielding strength reaching 500 tons and occasionally surging to a level "7," surpassing even a thousand tons under certain bursts!

In essence, if assessed solely by data on paper, individuals like Brix, Bora, and Verna are slightly stronger than the average Spider-Man but fall short of those empowered by the Golden Spider Genes!

However, this doesn't guarantee these Spider-Men could win in one-on-one combat against them.

The Inheritors' attacks can bypass the Spider-Men's heavily relied-upon Spider-Sense. Once stripped of this sense, those Spider-Men relying on it in combat instantly find themselves at a disadvantage, except for a few with extensive combat experience.

That's one aspect. The other, and crucial, aspect is the Inheritors' "authority"! This authority inherently grants them a natural advantage against Spider Totems, or rather, all animal totems, providing them with a "restraining effect."

Facing off against animal totems severely weakens the totem's side while exponentially boosting the Inheritors' strength.

This trade-off naturally creates a situation of overwhelming dominance.

So, focusing on countering these aspects with a certain level of enhancement or optimization could lead to victory!

Mark has already reinforced pure strength aspects. He conducted genetic surgeries on every Spider-Man present, optimizing their genetic makeup to exceed 50 tons in normal strength, with some even reaching above a hundred tons!

The strength in their peak state is immeasurable.

However, authority—usually limited to a single universe like the powers of the Captain Universe or the Infinity Stones—is incredibly challenging to enhance.

Since they can't improve their own authority, Mark wondered, what if they could undermine the opponents? Weakening them equates to strengthening themselves, doesn't it?

Luckily, he did conceive two potential methods to weaken the Inheritors' authority and even a method for a forceful takedown!
