A sudden turn of events caused chaos on the scene.
The audience scattered in all directions.
"Who are you? What do you want?" Circus Spider-Man held Mary Ann close, dodging the falling ceiling above while demanding answers angrily.
The newcomer was a wiry, slick-haired man with a slight hunch, resembling a sinister wolf. His crimson eyes glared fixedly at Circus Spider-Man, emanating a chilling vibe that sent shivers down his spine.
"Me? I'm Morlun, and I'm here for some 'good eats.'" Morlun scrutinized Circus Spider-Man closely, grinned widely, revealing a mouthful of sharp teeth.
"Good eats? If you're hungry, I'd be happy to treat you to a meal, even two, but before that, you need to apologize for your actions, buddy." Circus Spider-Man attempted to reason with this wolf-like man.
However, Morlun's face suddenly turned terrifying.
He stared at Circus Spider-Man, his voice dark and eerie, "Really? Are you really going to treat me to a meal?"
Circus Spider-Man froze.
He suddenly felt extremely uncomfortable and nauseated.
This soul-piercing oppression came directly from the man in front of him!
"Mary Ann, go find Mr. Watson. Leave here now." Circus Spider-Man whispered to his girlfriend.
"Peter..." Mary Ann Jane sensed something amiss.
"Go, please!" Circus Spider-Man urged in a low voice.
"Mary Ann!" Mary Ann Jane's father, Mr. Watson, pulled her away, running into the distance.
They both knew Peter's true capabilities; now, they needed to ensure they didn't hinder him.
Morlun didn't care whether others stayed or left.
He still fixed his gaze on Circus Spider-Man.
In the next moment, he suddenly darted forward.
Circus Spider-Man was horrified.
He finally realized that not only did his spider-sense vanish, but even his much-prided speed and strength were inconsequential in front of this man called Morlun!
Snap!
Morlun grabbed his right hand.
The immense force directly snapped the bones in his hand!
"Ah!"
Circus Spider-Man screamed in agony, suppressing the pain, he kicked Morlun in the chest.
Morlun didn't seem intent on killing him outright; he released his grip.
Circus Spider-Man took the opportunity to leap back several meters.
"Darn it, who is this guy?" Circus Spider-Man, clutching his broken hand with his left, looked at Morlun with fear.
Morlun, however, nonchalantly opened his mouth, took a deep breath, and then a look of enjoyment spread across his face, marveling, "Ah~ this pure scent, it's absolutely delicious! You're a generous one, willing to entertain me with yourself. But I prefer to play with my food rather than eat it directly!"
Only now did Circus Spider-Man realize what this man meant by "a meal."
What he wanted to eat... was none other than himself!
"What are you? A cannibal?" Circus Spider-Man exclaimed, shooting out several strands of webbing in an attempt to disrupt his opponent.
Years of performing in the circus had honed his web-slinging skills.
His exceptional web-slinging technique instantly bound Morlun tightly.
"Hah... finally, some breathing room." Circus Spider-Man breathed a sigh of relief, preparing to call the police to handle this menace.
From the way this guy spoke, it was clear that he was a super villain who took pleasure in cannibalism. He needed to be apprehended!
"Is that all?" Morlun seemed somewhat disappointed.
In the next moment, much to Circus Spider-Man's horror, with a slight effort, the seemingly unbreakable strands of webbing snapped like regular threads!
"How is this possible?" Circus Spider-Man's eyes widened.
Morlun slowly walked towards him. "Although you're pitifully weak, I believe you'll make quite a delicious meal. But I'll have to be careful not to finish you too quickly, considering how weak you are.."
"Shit!" Circus Spider-Man realized he couldn't possibly match this man; he was completely overpowered in every aspect!
Realizing this, he turned and fled in another direction.
He couldn't lead danger towards Mary Ann Jane and her father who had fled in the opposite direction!
"Trying to escape? My delectable spider." Morlun wore a sickly smile and followed.
Boom!
Boom!
Boom!
Leveraging his enhanced physical abilities, Circus Spider-Man leaped across the low medieval-style buildings.
But behind him, there were continuous thuds.
In front of Morlun, these buildings were nothing.
With a casual swing of his fist, he demolished the walls of the buildings, continuing to pursue.
He resembled a cat that had caught a mouse.
Before devouring the mouse, the cat always liked to play with it first.
"No, this is too sudden! I haven't... I haven't..." Despair crept into Circus Spider-Man's eyes. "I have witnessed the discovery of a new world, found the love of my life, endured numerous storms, and now I wither and shatter like a petal."
Circus Spider-Man was an artistic soul, deeply fond of Shakespeare's works. Unfortunately, everyone preferred his acrobatic performances over his theatrical ones.
But that was fine.
He believed he had found a way to combine theater and acrobatics, integrating them into his performances, making the Legendary Circus famous.
He was supposed to rise to the top and become a rising star in the entertainment industry.
How could he fall in a place like this?
"I refuse!"
He's afraid!
He's terrified!
Who will save me?
Swish!
A piercing sound cut through the air.
After playing with pitiful spider for a while, Morlun finally lost patience.
He casually picked up a one-meter-tall stone stool from the roadside, using his hands to sharpen one end like a short and thick spear?
But this seemingly unsophisticated spear in Morlun's hand was thrown out with the force of a cannon!
Boom!
Circus Spider-Man barely changed his shape, evading the attack.
The spear landed on the side of a nearby building, directly demolishing half of its wall.
Although this strike didn't hit him directly, the injuries he had sustained became more severe after this tumultuous encounter.
He was puzzled. His healing ability was astonishingly powerful, but why, this time, was there no sign of recovery from his severed right hand, unlike before his mutation?
Boom!
A fist imprinted on Circus Spider-Man's body, sending him crashing into another building while still in mid-air.
*Cough, cough, cough* Circus Spider-Man felt like his body had been dismembered. He lay limp in the debris, devoid of any strength to move.
*Creak, creak* Morlun gradually stepped through the shattered walls, heading directly towards the "meal" lying among the ruins, a twisted smile forming on his lips.
He seemed to anticipate the taste of what he was about to indulge in.
With his prayers inevitably failing, Circus Spider-Man could only close his eyes in despair, bracing himself for death.
Whoosh!
A figure abruptly appeared between them.
Mark slightly tilted his head and furrowed his brow. "Am i too late?"
Sensing the intense emotional upheaval emanating from Circus Spider-Man, Mark had followed it and arrived just in time.
But perhaps it was still a tad too late.
At least the Spider-Man of this world hadn't been killed yet.
"Who are you?" Morlen halted and looked at Mark.
Mark furrowed his brow, quickly recognizing the man before him. "You're... Morlun?"
Surprised, Morlun asked, "You know me?"
Know him? How could he not know him?
Morlun was one of the earliest members of the Inheritors family to appear.
He was actually a non-corporeal entity similar to Electro, but what Mark and the others saw was the appearance he acquired by integrating himself into a body.
In Earth-616, commonly considered the primary universe, a man named Ezekiel informed Spider-Man (616) about his identity's origins.
Spider-Man's powers were not accidental; the spider that bit him voluntarily transferred its abilities to Peter before dying.
This was a "totem," a bridge between humans and animals, granting them attributes from both.
However, in the multiverse, some individuals aimed to destroy these totems!
One of them was Morlun.
Subsequently, Morlun indeed appeared in that world, repeatedly defeating Spider-Man (616).
In the end, Spider-Man (616) found Morlun's weakness through a blood sample obtained during their fight. Later, Spider-Man (616) injected himself with a certain amount of nuclear radiation, resulting in a mutual destruction method that poisoned Morlun with radiation, finally defeating him.
The figure before them was obviously Morlun, resurrected again using the family's cloning technology after dying once in the 616 universe!
"The look in your eyes annoys me." Morlun suddenly spoke as Mark scrutinized him, trying to find any possible weaknesses.
Immediately after, he rushed forward.
"Be careful!" Circus Spider-Man shouted.
Though uncertain about this sudden arrival, like most Peters, he didn't want to see anyone harmed.
"You're fast." Mark narrowed his eyes, slightly shifting his body sideways while raising his foot, delivering a powerful knee strike.
"But not fast enough.."
Bang!
A dull thud, leaving Circus Spider-Man utterly astonished.
The man who had been chasing him relentlessly and seemed unbeatable was suddenly struck mid-air by this newcomer!
Morlun was thrown far away, crashing into a building and disappearing inside.
Mark rubbed his knee. "His body feels as hard as steel.."
However, this brief skirmish eased his tension somewhat.
The strength of the Inheritors' family members was not as formidable as imagined.
At least, that was the case with Morlun.
