Chereads / Spider-Verse: Another Spider-Man / Chapter 140 - Chapter 140

Chapter 140 - Chapter 140

"No, I'm not leaving!" Radd exclaimed passionately. Although he didn't know how Spider-Man arrived, he didn't want to leave.

He shouted, "Nora needs me! Spider-Man, believe me, I've confronted them head-on, I can defend myself, and I can help you!"

"Uh, okay," Spider-94 shrugged, "Come with me."

At this moment, two red dots appeared on the small map in his mind.

"Sir, what are these red dots?" Spider-94 shook his head, puzzled.

"Think about your spider-sense," Mark reminded.

Spider-94 suddenly realized, "Are they enemies? Are those two nearby enemies?"

Mark didn't answer, but Spider-94 knew he guessed right.

With Radd, he moved toward the two moving red dots.

As he walked, he was also learning Mark's ability.

Although Mark called himself a wizard, Spider-94 always felt that many of his abilities had some similarities with his own.

For example, this ability to explore the surrounding area was like an enhanced version of spider-sense.

Normal spider-sense could only passively sense danger, but this one was more specific and actively sensed everything around.

Coincidentally, he also had a similar ability. (Spider-94 could precisely find the best escape route in a crisis, and he had done it several times.)

Thinking about it, maybe he could replicate something similar?

Spider-94 gradually had some ideas in his mind.

However, like improving spider silk, this would require ample time to work on.

So, not now.

Roar!

Suddenly, a low roar came from ahead, and immediately, a burly figure rushed toward Spider-94.

Spider-94 lowered his body, kicked up, and sent Boroz flying to the ceiling of the sewer. "Although, compared to the Lizard, you're really far behind."

"Arrggggh! Damn it!" Boroz swung his tail toward Spider-94.

Spider-94 reached out, grabbed it, and spun around.

With a snap, the tail broke off, and Boroz was sent flying.

It turned out to be the classic lizard tactic of shedding the tail for survival.

After landing some distance away, Boroz quickly climbed up, feeling extremely fearful.

Although the confrontation was very brief, he deeply felt how powerful Spider-94's strength was.

It was a strength he couldn't possibly resist.

What he didn't know was that this was still Spider-94 holding back.

If he didn't control the force, he could have punched Boroz to pieces!

"Hey! Moron, I don't know if you can take me to find the girl you guys captured?" Spider-94 said.

"Your whole family are the morons!" Boroz cursed angrily, then chickened out, jumping into the sewer and swimming away in the sewage.

Spider-94 was momentarily dumbfounded.

He never expected this guy to resort to such a move.

"Hey! Hey! How about you come back, and we can discuss this properly? I won't call you a moron anymore, is that not enough?"

"How about big guy? That's not bad!"

However, no matter how Spider-94 yelled, Boroz, completely ignored him.

Seeing it was futile, Spider-94 had no choice but to lead the dumbfounded Radd toward the other red dot.

Unable to hold back, Radd asked, "Why do you talk so much during a fight?"

Spider-94 was puzzled, "Do I talk a lot? I don't feel like I do. I'm Spider-Man, not Chatterbox-Man or anything like that."

Radd, Mark, and Gwen: "..."

Mark saw this as a small test for Spider-94, a warm-up before officially engaging with the Lizard People Kingdom.

So, he didn't directly mark Nora's location for Spider-94.

Nora couldn't possibly be in danger.

In fact, if Mark wished, he could open a portal and bring Nora directly here.

Even now, he was keeping a close eye on the situation.

Spider-94 wasn't aware of this and continued nervously walking through the sewer with Radd, analyzing the information at hand.

The following events went relatively smoothly.

Spider-94 quickly captured the lone Lizard Person and interrogated him, extracting information about the location of their lair.

This area was a rocky reef not far from the coast, not particularly large, just with a complex network of pathways. With the guidance of the captured Lizard person, they swiftly located Nora.

Upon arrival, they discovered that Boroz, the Lizard Person who had escaped Spider-94 earlier, was not present. Only the Lizard Person left to guard Nora was there, eyeing Nora with drool.

This Lizard Person, similar to an ordinary person, was naturally no match for Spider-94. With a single punch, he knocked him down and used webbing to tie him and the other captured Lizard Person together.

As for Radd, he rushed forward, freeing his girlfriend Nora.

"Radd, how could you just abandon me like that?" Nora was indignant, finding her boyfriend irresponsible and unreliable.

Radd was at a loss for words.

Spider-94 stepped in to clarify the misunderstanding, and the two reconciled after the truth came to light.

Shaking his head helplessly, Spider-94 thought, 'Well, it seems I'm good at playing matchmaker for others, but what about myself? Troubles just keep piling up on me!'

"Alright, you two, I think it's best to get you out of here now. I still have to confront these guys and save our city. I can't afford to look after you." Spider-94 interrupted their lovey-dovey moment.

Radd quickly released his girlfriend, and they walked up to Spider-94.

Nora, deeply moved, said, "Thank you, Spider-Man. Thank you for saving us. You are a true hero!"

Radd sincerely expressed his gratitude, "Thank you. You not only saved me and Nora but also our love. If one day we decide to get married, can we invite you to our wedding?"

Spider-94 was surprised, "Invite me? Are you sure? My public image is not that great. Jameson thinks I'm a big villain causing chaos in the city."

"Listen, Spider-Man, don't underestimate yourself," Radd earnestly said, "You are a hero, someone who protects our city from evil. Jameson? Let him go to hell!"

"That's right, we will do our best to show everyone the real you!" Nora chimed in.

"Thank you all. What you said means a lot to me," Spider-94 felt somewhat touched.

He had finally gained two people willing to believe in him.

At this moment, he was not the seasoned, battle-worn individual with countless scars. Instead, he was a relative newcomer to the Spider abilities, still a "rookie."

Up to now, he had only faced a dozen or so relatively minor villains.

"Sir, could you please take them to a safe place?" Spider-94 shouted loudly.

Immediately, Mark opened a portal near them.

To the amazement of Radd and Nora, Spider-94 sent them through the portal.

"Sir, let me go ahead and scout the way for you," Spider-94 volunteered after the portal closed.

"Sure, I estimate Dr. Connors will need another ten minutes or so," Mark nodded, agreeing to Spider-94's request. "Perhaps you can make the situation even bigger, attract all the Lizard People over, and then deal with them all at once."

"Okay!"

Spider-94 agreed and continued walking forward along the sewer.

---

On the other side,

The escaped Boroz did not return to his temporary lair.

He had a crazy plan in his simple mind!

He intended to inform Monitor that humans had discovered them, then let Monitor and that powerful human fight each other, leaving him to seize control of the Lizard People's kingdom and become the king! By then, he could eat as many people as he wanted!

Thinking about this plan nearly burned out Boroz's not-so-advanced CPU.

But one had to admit that this plan was quite effective.

The only issue was the executor of this plan.

The central part of the sewer network, the Lizard People's kingdom.

It took the Lizard People several months to find such a spacious area.

Above this place was an abandoned sewage treatment plant, rarely visited after abandonment, making it the "capital" of the Lizard People's kingdom.

Lizard Princess Gila stood on a high place, tilting her head to the sky, emitting a continuous series of sharp hissing sounds.

The sound was piercing, completely unlike her usual soft and cute way of speaking.

But with her hissing, many lizards crawled from all directions, slowly converging around her.

At the same time, many Lizard People also followed and gathered nearby.

The not-so-bright Lizard People's Second Prince Gecko, accompanied by several lizard warriors, maintained order below, preventing some even less bright Lizard People from rushing up to tear Gila to pieces.

Indeed, many Lizard People coveted Gila's body. Not for her beauty, but to taste her flavor.

And now, the actual ruler of the Lizard People's kingdom, the eldest Lizard People Crown Prince Monitor, held a water ladle, catching a lizard, pressing its head into the ladle, gulping down a few mouthfuls of water, and then throwing it aside.

Then he grabbed another lizard, repeating the same action.

After a while, those lizards that drank water began to convulse, and their bodies began to swell continuously, eventually becoming the size of an ordinary human.

A trace of disappointment flashed in Monet's eyes.

The "sacred water" they possessed was getting scarcer, and the Lizard People they created were becoming weaker and weaker.

Lizards like the one just created were only on par with the strength of normal humans and could only be considered "Lizard People citizens," not "Lizard People warriors."

"I think we need to find a way to locate our father!" Monitor said slowly.
