Chapter 6: The Escape [2]
"You need to leave right away!"
Coughing and wheezing, Vaughn nodded in understanding, acknowledging the gravity of the situation. It was not a decision made with the expectation of immediate pleasure or joy but rather a means of securing his freedom.
Sensing the urgency of the situation, the Reincarnation Goddess placed her hand on Vaughn's body, her touch radiating a warm golden light. The divine energy surged through him, infusing him with the power necessary for his reincarnation.
But time was running out, as the World God continued to amplify his power, relentlessly pushing against the weakening shield.
As the pressure mounted, cracks began to form on the shield, signaling its impending collapse. The Goddess and Vaughn knew they had limited time before the World God would discover Vaughn's absence.
The shield shattered with a resounding force, its shards piercing through the souls who were in the process of entering the Portal of Reincarnation, causing momentary chaos and confusion.
With a vigilant gaze, the World God surveyed the area, searching for any trace of Vaughn. His eyes darted around, his frustration growing as he found no signs of the one he sought.
"Where is he?" the World God's voice thundered with rage, his eyes filled with fury and frustration.
"Probably... Reincarnated?" the Reincarnation Goddess replied calmly, meeting his gaze with unwavering determination. Her words only fueled the World God's anger, pushing him to act on his violent impulses.
In a swift motion, he lunged forward, his hands grasping tightly around her delicate neck."You filthy swine!" he bellowed, his voice reverberating through the air as he exerted pressure, strangling the Goddess.
But the Goddess of Reincarnation was no weakling, and she refused to be silenced or subdued. With a surge of her divine aura, she pushed back against the World God's grip, exerting her own power to create distance between them.
"It's all because of you, don't blame me," she retorted defiantly, her voice laced with a mix of frustration and accusation.
"Because of me? Heh, what an excuse," the World God scoffed, his anger still burning brightly. Both deities stood locked in a tense standoff, their expressions etched with seething rage, refusing to back down.
Silence hung heavy in the air, broken only by the crackling energy surrounding them, as they glared at each other, a clash of divine wills and conflicting desires.
The God and the Goddess, bound by the unyielding laws that governed their existence, knew that they couldn't unleash their full power against each other. They were constrained by the balance enforced by these cosmic rules, ensuring that neither could gain an unfair advantage.
Both deities, despite their seething anger and desire for retribution, understood the futility of engaging in a battle they couldn't win. A delicate equilibrium existed between them, restricting their actions and leveling the playing field.
They exchanged a knowing glance, their eyes filled with the awareness of their limitations. It was a silent acknowledgment of the impasse they faced, where neither could claim true victory over the other.
"Fine," the World God declared coldly. "Whatever you do, that will have nothing to do with me from today. You are no longer my wife," he added, turning away from her, his anger still evident in his eyes.
"I was waiting for you to say this," the Goddess responded calmly, her voice tinged with a mix of relief and determination. With her back turned to him, she too was ready to move forward independently, no longer bound by their former connection.
Both deities stood firm in their decisions, parting ways as the rift between them widened.
In the midst of their departure, a torrent of thoughts raced through their minds, each harboring their own secrets and grievances.
'Do you think I will forgive you for raping me and having my lover killed...?' The Goddess of Reincarnation's eyes blazed with a mixture of fury and sorrow. The memories of betrayal and loss fueled her anger, igniting a vengeful fire within her.
As they moved further apart, their footsteps echoing in the void between them, the tension between the two deities remained palpable.
The World God chuckled darkly, his eyes gleaming with a sinister glint.
'Ha... '
'Just as I had your lover killed, do you think I can't do the same with this dog whom you made reincarnate?'
'What was his name again? Vawn? Vaughn? Yes, Vaughn... I will make him wish for nothing but hell,' he sneered. Utilizing his immense powers, the World God detected Vaughn's soul as it had already reached the mortal realm, ready to begin a new life.
He could no longer voluntarily destroy it as Vaughn had yet to commit enough evil. He sneered with a sinister grin, knowing that while he couldn't outright destroy Vaughn's soul, he could still tamper with its fate.
'No you don't!' The Goddess of Reincarnation sensed the sinister intentions of the World God, his attempt to tamper with Vaughn's reincarnation.
The World God sought to divert Vaughn's soul into the body of a newborn street dog, a helpless puppy destined for a life of suffering and hardship.
The Goddess Of Reincarnation sprang into action, mustering her powers to counter his tampering. With every ounce of her divine energy, she fought against the malevolent forces, determined to protect Vaughn's soul from being trapped in the body of a street dog.
Though she acted swiftly, time was not on her side. The threads of destiny were already in motion, but she refused to give up. With a final burst of energy, she managed to redirect Vaughn's soul just in the nick of time. The World God's intended destination, the body of a newborn street dog, was thwarted.
Instead, Vaughn's soul found its new home in the body of a human slave. While she yearned to grant Vaughn a life of privilege and royalty, the tampering had limited her options. Reincarnating as a slave was far better than the grim fate of a suffering puppy.
The Goddess of Reincarnation cast a sidelong glance at the departing World God, her eyes filled with a mix of disdain and determination.
As the World God retreated to his realm, he settled on his throne, a symbol of his authority and power. With a flick of his wrist, a golden screen materialized, suspended in mid-air before him. It shimmered with a mesmerizing glow, displaying a window into the mortal world below.
'Now this will be fun,' the World God mused, his voice laced with a sinister undertone.
'The world of magic…'
'And a place where everyone has status screens…'
'A 21st century boy surviving there?'
'As a slave?'
'Heh…'
'Will be fun.'
