Chapter 29: Flashback [1]
It was only now that Vaughn realized he was being eyed upon. As he came to investigate, he found himself under scrutiny. Thankfully, they hadn't noticed that he had detected their presence. Now, it was up to Vaughn to handle the situation — whether he would emerge unscathed or meet an unfortunate fate.
"Listen, girl," Vaughn said, raising his voice at Delta, who stood right in front of him. She felt a tinge of fear about what might come next, as she didn't want to provoke a wealthy noble's son at this moment. Despite her trepidation, she maintained a facade of composure.
"I'm grateful for your help. You provided me with shelter while others merely ran away... I don't want to cause any trouble.", his voice was a bit shaky, but he managed to act dominant.
"I would also leave now, leaving you alone. But what if someone else comes and asks you about the proofs? What will you do then?" Vaughn inquired, his tone matter-of-fact.
