John's eyes broadened for a second before they narrowed so much that a paper could barely fit between them as he spoke in a very dangerous tone that made the tension in the room rise so high and made the other three's blood run cold.
"Are you threatening me, kid?!?"
John's veins were visible through his forehead and even his tightened hand which was about to begin bleeding as his nails were about to pierce through it…
It was very clear that he was doing his best to hold in his anger and stay calm but was unable to do so.
"You know very well what my meaning was Mr. John… I know about the difficulties your troop is facing because of its morals and principles, or should I say… Your morals and principles?"
John's eyes widened back with an expression of absolute disbelief, in his head there was no way for this kid to know about this stuff… No, he was bluffing for sure… There was simply no way for him to know…
"Because you didn't want to play the game the nobles informed you to play, your troop had to suffer the consequences, you lost many soldiers and the number of new ones joining you is decreasing day by day."
"It'll be only a matter of time before your whole troop becomes a part of history, and when that happens you'll lose all the power you have which is preventing your enemies from making a move on you…"
"This was the reason you wanted to recruit kids like us in your troop in the first place, or am I wrong, Mr.John???"
Everyone's eyes gazed at Kai's face, unable to believe the words that just came out of his mouth…
Nobles are attempting to end the White Fang troop? Even if they wanted to believe Kai, they were incapable of wrapping their heads around why would an unknown kid like Kai know these types of things…?
Eventually, after a while and when John was finally able to regain his composure, he looked at Kai with a complicated expression before he spoke with a helpless tone.
Sigh*
"Listen, kid… I don't know how you got this information but you've managed to surprise me, you're right… My troop is on the edge of extinction, if you call it that… And I need help even if it was from kids, but I don't want those kids to be greedy and want nothing more than power despite the condition of those below…"
"Because those will only bring my troop down even more… Other than that, you still haven't explained why you won't join a newbie, so you're making me doubt your intentions… So tell me kid, what are your intentions here…???"
Kai stared into John's eyes which were gazing back at him, both with dead-ass serious faces.
Sigh*
"Everyone has their own greedy desires in this world Commander, you and me… Even God himself, all you need to know is that my intentions are not evil nor do I mean any harm for your troop…"
"You can either decide to trust my words and gamble on me… Or wait until your soldiers and your troop slowly die and fade away…"
"Either way… It's your choice"
Death-staring at Kai's eyes… Perhaps trying to intimidate him or something else… John closed his eyes after failing to get any reaction off of Kai's face.
"Leave…"
Opening his eyes John chose to dismiss the kids for now and use some time to think about it… Though he didn't believe he'll have much to think about as he was already hesitant to send kids like the four for missions before, and now after witnessing Kai's personality his doubts only grew even stronger.
Kai gave John a last glance before he turned his back towards heading outside the entrance… As for the others, they were still astonished and hesitant about what they should do at the moment.
"Let's leave… It's not like we have a say in this discussion anyway…"
The first to leave the room was Ellen then was followed by Conor and finally Ken… Then, after reaching the door, Kai took off as well after leaving one last warning for John that made his previous certainty about his decision go down the toilet.
"Commander John… You're a leader, your choices shouldn't be made by your principles or heart but by your brain… Choose wisely, Mr John… After all, you're responsible for the lives of hundreds of soldiers… And you'll be the one to give their families the news if and when they die… I hope you keep that in mind."
John's eyes did not leave the door even after seeing Kai leave slamming it behind him… But his mind was already in a completely different world thinking about all the things that had led him to this point.
*Sigh
Leaving a long tired sigh, He grabbed a small bottle of whisky from his desk as he took a huge gulp of it trying to cool his mind off while closing his eyes to get some sense of comfort.
…..
After two days…
Sitting at their usual cornered table, Kai and the other three were eating their food like usual… Or so they seemed to others, but if given enough attention they would realize that their table was unbearably silent, they were all acting like complete strangers not even looking at each other's eyes.
Well… That was the normal act for Kai, though even he wasn't really like the usual as he was sensing the others glancing at him from time to time but looking away whenever he stares back at them.
It was getting really annoying and made him very uncomfortable and just when Kai was about to say something about it…
Some random guy whose only noticeable body feature was his big muscles sat on their table with no type of invite nor greetings and when stared at by all the four he eventually grabbed a small stamped letter from his pocket pushing it slowly and quietly towards Kai before leaving without a single word being said.
Kai opened the letter silently to avoid any attention from other tables as he considered that was what the big guy wanted…
The more time Kai spent reading the letter the bigger the smile on his face got before his entire face was covered with a big smile stretching from one ear to another.
"What does it say…??"
Eventually, unable to resist her curiosity… Ellen questioned Kai wondering what could be the reason behind his sudden joy.
Kai grinned upon Ellen's question as he gave a sarcastic yet serious answer
"Oh… Nothing much, it's just the Commander agreed to create a new group, one specified solely for us."
