Chapter 20 - FAIRIES OF THE FOREST

Seyrin, Lili, Lizz, and Adam followed closely, each using their unique abilities to track down any sign of Revy and Prince Elir. Seyrin's intuition was sharp as a blade, cutting through the fog of confusion and doubt that had been planted in their minds. Lili's keen senses picked up the faintest whispers of magic, a trail that seemed to dance just out of reach. Lizz, her eyes closed, sent her mind racing through the dreams of those they passed, searching for any hint of where the prince might be taken. And Adam, ever the strategist, pieced together the puzzle of the old man's words, trying to discern his true intentions.

The first village they came across was eerily quiet. The cobblestone streets were devoid of life, the doors to the quaint houses firmly shut. A sense of unease settled in their stomachs as they moved through the deserted streets. It was as if the very air held its breath, waiting for something to happen.

Seyrin's intuition screamed at him that something was off, but he couldn't quite put his finger on it. The silence was oppressive, almost tangible. It was Lili who broke the stillness, her eyes narrowed as she picked up on something that the others couldn't see. "Revy was here," she murmured, her hand hovering over a faint scent in the air. "And the prince."

Adam frowned, scanning the area with a critical eye. "But why would they come this way?" he asked, his mind racing. "It doesn't make sense."

Lili's nose twitched as she picked up a scent. "They're hiding something," she murmured. "I can feel it."

Seyrin's eyes searched the abandoned village, his heart heavy. The place was desolate, as if all life had been drained from it. His intuition sang a warning tune that grew louder with every step they took. He turned to the others, his expression grim. "We need to be careful," he said. "Something's not right here."

Lili's nose remained in the air, sniffing out any trace of her friend and the prince. "This way," she said, her voice barely above a whisper. "They were definitely here." Her eyes glowed with a fierce determination to find and protect her teammates.

Seyrin's eyes searched the abandoned village, his hand hovering over the hilt of his sword. "Be on guard," he warned, his voice low. "This place feels... wrong."

Lili nodded, her nose to the ground as she followed the trail. "They went this way," she said, pointing to a path leading into the dense forest.

The team moved quickly, their eyes and senses peeled for any signs of trouble. The ancient forest was alive with whispers and shadows, the trees seemingly watching their every move. As they delved deeper, the whispers grew louder, more insistent. Lizz's eyes fluttered open, her expression one of concentration as she listened to the voices that only she could hear. "The nymphs," she murmured. "They're trying to communicate with us."

"What are they saying?" Seyrin asked, his hand tightening around the hilt of his sword.

Lizz's eyes remained closed, her breath shallow. "They speak of a great disturbance in the forest," she murmured. "A presence that does not belong."

The group exchanged worried glances as they pushed deeper into the foliage, the whispers of the nymphs growing stronger. The trees began to lean in, their branches forming a canopy that blocked out the sun, casting an eerie twilight over the group. The air grew thick with anticipation, the very fabric of the forest seemingly waiting for them to make a move.

Lili's nose led them through the winding paths, her eyes darting left and right as she followed the faint scent of her friend and the prince. Each step felt heavier, the very earth beneath them seemingly resisting their passage. The trees whispered secrets that only the wind understood, their voices carrying a sense of urgency that sent shivers down Seyrin's spine.

All they saw was brutality. The mangled fairy corpses now stained the green forest red.
